Title: Tungsten carbide micro drill bits.
Post by: Des on April 05, 2014, 03:50:06 PM
For anyone looking for good quality tungsten carbide micro drill bits I have found this place to be very good on price and offer excellent service and good postage rates. You have a choice of new or resharpened drill bits, I always use the resharpened bits and found them to be excellent and extremely sharp. The link below will take you directly to the section where you can make up your own custon drill bits. Check their site at least once a week as they run regular specials on particular sizes.

Since writing this post I have been in contact with Jason at Drill Bits Unlimited and he has now set up a special page on his website for members of this forum to buy drill bits at a discounted price, this link will take you to the page, you must order from this page to get the prices advertised.

Hi Des,

The ones I use most frequently are 0.3mm - 0.4mm and 0.5mm, sometimes I will throw in a few 0.35mm. Remember what I said about their specials though, every now and then they will have some really good deals like the last lot of 50 x 0.4mm bits, got them for 0.49cents each.

Hi Des,
 What sizes do you recommend?

von Bucklemiester,
I have used these for a couple of years and the quality, service and price are excellent. Like Des, once I had a basic supply (they obviously have a high attrition rate) I checked for and took advantage of the specials, getting batches of 50 for $20-$25 per box. I use the .40mm and .50mm sizes most as well.
Cheers,
Lance

I try to keep 10 ea in stock .15mm to .5mm (.05mm increments) 5 ea in stock .55 to 1.0mm, and 3 in stock up to 3mm.

Starting at 2mm I only go for .1mm increments.

Bear in mind the used ones are plenty sharp, but the smaller sizes they sell are almost always bent ever so slightly. Perfectly fine for hand drilling, not so fine if you are using them in a drill press...
