One of my school friends built an Airfix version. Timothy's 30 minute build as 7 year old may not have been quite up to world class standard but it looked good to us at the time & I loved the shape. For some reason I never had the kit myself so a few... errr.... decades later it's very satisfying to be able to put that omission right - on a grand scale.
My thanks to Jamo for the report.
Regards
Russell
PS I was going to order a Datafile for the C11 last week but I never got around to it - I did this morning though!

damn that makes me think it could be true.
-
Ill be buying two as soon as they become available!
-
They look good but I already have a 1/48 scale Eduard one on the shelf! ;)

It is no good excuse, Dave. Because of WNW I now have four couples in 72nd and 32nd scales - DH.2, Albatros D.V, Pfalz D.IIIa and Pfalz D.XII... But I do not have any Walfisch...
-
truth be told the eduard is a decent kit if you want to make the later versions but the bulkheads have to be trimmed out and some scratched details and it still wouldnt be as nice as the wnw kits. logically i should get the early version but i want both as well as the d.vib and the dh-9 .better start selling off some kits.
-
Well, I just ordered the early version even though I have the Eduard C.II finished and in my case. I also have another Eduard and a Blue Max, both of which I fully intend to build, perhaps in conjunction with the WNW kit. Just couldn't pass up a Roland with a Lewis gun. So cool.
Cheers,
Bud

its a conundrum bud i got a couple eduards which are basically like the "late"wnw on the interior and of course the well known aileron control fix in order to make the version you want. i am tempted get the early because the interior with the steering wheel and that lewis but then the fishy schemes are in that version. i kinda want to do a 2 tone camo with teeth . so i kinda want both, but i also want a roland d.vi b that just came out. and i want the new dh-9. and i still want a junkers j.i .so i think i need to sell a couple 1/48 doubles that i know i wont build. ima put together some and post them on the trading post.

Am idea for WNW, how about releasing the CII & Re8 as a "dogfight double"- worked for Airfix all those years ago!

its hard to resist when by far the most accurate and awesome kits are wnw and they really are affordable if you compare to what you get from elsewhere per buck.
-
With the release of the two Roland kits and the soon to be released Roland C.IIa (early) I think I will just settle for the first one, the first release, Roland C.II.

You lucky 32nd scale lads! I think even those who build in other scales should be happy - WnW instructions are simply great source of info on detailling.
-
well i flipped a coin and got the c.ii. maybe later i will get the c.iia
-
SWMBO sprung for the CII it's on its way now. So every morn and night its check the parcel progress time. ::)
Already received the Taurus bits for the engine and such ;D

Hi Kornbeef, as you say, you "already received the Taurus bits for the engine and such", do you or does anybody here have any other recommendations for aftermarket bits and pieces? (And which Taurus bits did you order?)
I also ordered the C.II a few days ago (no shipping notification yet..) and wonder, whether there are aftermarket Lewis guns.

Hi Richard.
I ordered the Manifold nuts for the intake manifold & the timing gear for the Mercedes DIII engine. It comes as two separate options one with the rocker box covers as separate or attached to the timing gear. To be honest the simpler option is perfectly fine. JUTS make sure you order for the DIII and NOT the DIIIau (different timing gear.)
I already have a supply of sparkplugs from Taurus.
As theres little more to see that's plenty for me as I'll be having the cowls on most likely.
I don't know of a better detailed Lewis gone to be honest. Just lake yourself I'm fancying a Lewis armed version I think the WNW Lewis isn't bad though I'd have liked to see the mount for it broken down a little. I see this as an excellent chance for the aftermarket guys to cash in ;D
As the CII seems to have l no serial no's on show etc I guess with the decals provided you can do pretty much what you want for once? Looking forwards to seeing the different interpretations once the build blogs start. I'm leaning towards CDL/Yellow if only to look different in the cabinet.
Cheers Keith

Thank you Keith!

A WNW oops ?
Ordered a c.IIa, and today a c.II arrived. Correct kit listed on the invoice. Bummer !

It's those damn drunken hobbits running the warehouse...

My CII is with UK customs right now. Funny it takes 2 days to get from the other side of the world then grinds to a halt here in Blighty.... Trying to clear some bench space as I type this (damn those PT boats take up so much room! lol.
