Hello,
This time I have decided to proceed with double strike of one the most beautiful aero plane ever created in WWI period.
I have seen a lot of WNW kits on forum so this thread will be a little bit different.
First one and most expected should be green-tailed Jasta 5 and second one Degelow black one, will see how my assumption will be located in the future.
As far as I am concerned there in only one picture of red Jasta 5 Pfalz D.III in the Jagdstaffel 5 special datafile from Albatros publications, which I do not possess for time being but I am going to get one >:(
So up to now I have done engines:

decided to upgrade the engine bay:

As there is no agreement how the interior looked like I have decided to use silbergrau for one and leave plain wood in the second one
Here we have some steps to do so:

some updates soon

Great start, Krzysiek. The engines are superb. Your detailing work on them is amazing.
Your talent is obvious. I will enjoy following your build. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

What a harvest of Pfalz D.IIIs at our forum!!!! Almost makes me want to build one, once more!
This will be a yet one more thread to follow. Great start, Krzysiek. Your Ed's 48th scale is not too far from what WNW offers in 32nd! Great modelling, I am impatiently looking forward to see more.
-
Nice start. If there's one thing I like more than a Pfalz it's two Pfalzs. :)
-
Beautiful start, Krzysiek. Hard to believe the title isn't WNW 1:32 Scale. Looking forward to more great DIIIa's here.
Cheers,
Lance
-
A very nice start Krzysiek. Go on.
Martin

Great job on the engines and framing, Krzysiek! I'm looking forward to following this build.
Cheers,
Bud

i really like how you upgraded the eduard engine with springs and spark plugs, very nice. as far as interior colors of pfalz aircraft i think mostly it is believed to be a light grey/green painted.
-
Beautiful start indeed!
Antonio

...you are too flattering…it is long, long way from my 48 to 32..
ok. and first parts of fuselage are ready to merge, only dashboard should be assembled as well. As you see the engine is too small and was incorrectly measured by manufacturer

I really like your interior work! Very well done!

Thanks for support :)
in the meantime, the fuselage interiors are done. Now the wings require some attention..

and again,
I took care of the wings form Jasta 5 Pfaltz as the final layer is to be silver I tried some preshading, gently at the beginning…

it does not look so good, I have decided to improve ribs and ailerons visibility and stopped somewhere here, as do not have any further idea how it should look like at the end:
the ribs masking:

Your shading method looks great. Soon I will be paint wings of my Fokker E.II. I will try use your method. Can I? ;)
Adam.

Krzysiek, you are making good progress on the Pfalz. Your masking work and
shading is first-rate. Nicely done!

Great efforts, Krzysiek. I wish you, that they are not in vain. Anyhow, my experience tells me, that postshading is much more effective.
-
Hello Krzysiek,
Exceptional work on the shading. Looks really great! Keep on this good work!
Kind regards
Patrick
-
I am very curious of the final effect. ::)
-
I'm really interested in seeing how the shading turns out, Krzysiek. It's a technique I haven't mastered yet, but with two RFC planes under construction, I need to work out how to do it pretty quickly.
Good stuff.
Dal.

Great work on your shading so far. Like the others I am looking forward to seeing the final results!

ok guys, here we have the reults
I have painted Jasta 5 wings Vallejo alu with little bit of grey and have some doubts about the outcome.
The fact is that, depending on the gaze angle with same light, the effect is quite different. IMHO the ribbing is too visible right now and should be more integrated into the overall picture of the wings ... The color of the canvas sometimes breaks through the aluminum and that effect found really interesting.
To sum up all preshading work was really tedious and monotonous, the final result only slightly captures the workload done. Nevertheless It was worth a try

Hi,
Little update In case of Jasta 5 bird. Now we can be sure that it belongs to “Green Tails”
Preshading was done in that case as well and I am happy with the results. One can observe really subtle claret below green, not well visible of photos but it is for sure!!

Very beautiful. I love the cockpit and engine details. The Pfalz D-III has became probably my favorite german plane of the era, because of both its aerodynamical shape and colored paintings. Looking forward to see them completed.
-
ok, time to move on..
the rigging is done but not fixed even painted. The undercarriage must be assembled as well.

She already looks pretty good. I read you plan to make Degelow's a/c. I've seen different representations of this bird, with either silver or black wings. Do you have any further info about the real colors of this machine? I've one picture of it but because of the lighting, it's hard to tell.

It looks very nicely, well done.

A real BEAUTY! Looks better with each update!!!

Eduard made the mistake, Degelow's should be all black, you can find some photos on WNW pages regarding Pfalz D.IIIa

OK thanks for the info. Looking forward to see your build of Degelow's a/c.

Hello,
Forgot about the prop, shame on me:(
so I prefer to paint than manufacture from wood, it is just save of time for me so here you have few steps of doing:
wood grain draft:
some oil paint layer

and will see if some further enhancement will be needed..
