Came across the site in researching a Revell 1/28th SPAD XIII build for an IPMS Ireland forum group build for WW1 anniversary. Haven't built a biplane in over 35 years so a lot to catch up on. Great site with loads of info!

Hello Khitomer and welcome to this wonderful forum. I'm sure you'll find lots of interest here and one sure thing is that as you build that SPAD there are people who can provide advice should you need it.
Best wishes

Welcome to the Forum from the Mountains of NC. I am also looking forward to your SPAD build! That OLD kit can still be built into a real beauty as some here have already done!

It is indeed. I started a Star Trek club way back in 1992 locally. It was also the time of the first peace talks here in Northern Ireland and it seemed appropriate to call the club the USS Khitomer. I've stuck with it ever since and it's served me well. Well spotted, do I detect a Trekkie?

Liam,
Where in Northern Ireland do you reside? I used to fly into Bally Kelly in the 60's (don't do the math on my age!) and have many fond memories of the Maiden City Bar in Londonderry. The Inn Keepers, Bridget and I can't recall her husbands name, sort of adopted their "Canadian Flyers" as they called us and the hosting was always most enjoyed. Many the pint was quaffed there as I vaguely recall, and the bonus was an excellent Book Store where I spent most of my Temporary Duty Allowances on the "Aircraft in Profile" Series.
Beautiful country and, since my roots go back to County Cork, I have a trip back on my "Bucket List". On a personal note, welcome to the best Forum on the Web, look forward to your participation.
Cheers, :)

I'm just down the road in Derry Lance. No airport in BKelly any more, last aircraft to land there was a Ryanair flight which landed at the wrong airport! Eglinton (where shackletons flew out of) is now City of Derry airport. Maiden City Bar is also long gone I'm afraid but Derry (UK City of Culture 2013!) is on the up and well worth a visit. If you're ever here let me know!

Khitomer,
Boy, I really dated myself, the MCB is gone and Bally Kelly is no more............ If/when I get to re-visit I'll definitely let you know.
Cheers,
Lance
