Title: Lloyd C.V Special Hobby 1/48
Post by: xmald on January 18, 2014, 10:44:23 PM
Heloo!
I`ve bought this one as an almost completed model. I wanted to add some details to the cockpit and change tha Austro Daimler 185 HP engine so I`ve ruined it a little bit  :-[
Still I like this plane so much and the kits are so hard to buy for reasonable prices that I decided to fight with this what I have.
I`ve added the seatbelts and replaced the observer`s seat. I also added the hatch in the floor. Behind the observer`s seat I`ve placed two drums for the Schwarzlose MG. Maybe I`ll add some more but I have only two pics of the Lloyd cockpit from Windsock International and I don`t know if there are more?
The engine is from Oeffag D.III model (I`ve got Karaya`s resin one for this kit).
Thanks for watching! More to come in the next episode... ;)

G'day, Filip.

I don't think you ruined it, mate.  At least there's noting ruined that I could see- that engine looks pretty good.

Cheers.

Dal.

Thanks gents! What I meant by saying that I ruined it is breaking some parts here and there and seperating the two fuselage halves using a brute force  ;)

Remember Filip, to make a tasty omelette, you have to break a few eggs. ;) ;D
Sorry...had to use that one! ;D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

I` ve strarted to paint the woodgrain. A little exagerated I think but some clear varnish along with orange may do the job (or not)...

Filip the woodgrain is extraordinary as is the interior. I certainly couldn't find anything ruined. That is more my kind of job. Keep on the great work!

Kind regards
Patrick

Sorry for the poor quality shots - the weather is pretty nasty though.
I`ve given my Lloyd the coat of clear orange mixed with Future. I`ve been working on the radiator today.
I must admit that the more I look at this bird the more I like it.

Cheers :) Building this one is a dream come true cause I liked this one since I was a child. I remember this first time I`ve seen it was in Polish markings with broken fuselage.

I`m really glad that you like it!!!
I`ve managed to attach the wing. I had to scratch the struts cause the original ones were extremely fragile and I have broken two of them just by handling the darn things... Not so much work left. I` ve thickened the PE gun rings using the CA glue.
I also have to put some weathering on the exhausts and the cowling. The cowling is something which was and frankly speaking still is a little bit puzzling cause I`ve seen numerous interpretations of which elements were made of metal and which were plywood. Decided to go along with the most popular trend  though ;) Enough talking here what it looks like now:

This is lovely work Filip. The trouble with people like your good self is that by virtue of such skilled builds you make me interested in aircraft I'd never considered. At my age, I'm running out of time.

Best wishes
Nigel

As you are probably aware Filip, I really like the Lloyd C.V, and you have done a beautiful job with this one.  :D  The mahogany looks marvelous, and the rib shadows in the tail feathers are really nicely done.  I'm looking forward to seeing this one completed!

Cheers,

Bob

Hello Filip:

Really a good job here.  Outstanding workmanship all around, the wood grain is convincing, as Bob mentioned, your rib shading stands out but not overly so.  Your cowling looks great.  You managed to overcome some hurdles and produce an interesting model of a unique aircraft.

Best

Mark

Oh, my!  She's really looking lovely, Filip.  You've done a remarkable job up to this point.  And congratulations on Poland's gold medal in ski jumping!  The most ballsy sport in the Olympics, without a doubt!  Flying over 100 meters, 15 stories up.  Wow!
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks Bud ;D ;D
Those ski jumpers are a little bit mad...  ;) I really don`t know why Poles call football the national sport - we`re trully bad at it whereas ski jumping is our thing. I`m proud of Kamil Stoch and what`s interesting he had a checkers - the symbol of the Polish Air Force on his helmet  :)

I noticed that!  I wonder what his connection is to the Air Force.

I was tickled to see the Polish Air Force symbol on Kamil Stoch's helmet.  I remarked to
my wife no wonder he flew so far!  Excellent performance and your Lloyd C.V is just as
excellent.  Congratulations to both of you.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello!
Thanks for your replies!!! She`s almost finished. I have to think about some weathering cause it`s too neat and clean to my standards  ;)
