A flight over Misty Mountains and the fog-veiled valley of the Great River Anduin it is! Until it gets under the clouds... ;)
I wonder if JRR Tolkien was inspired by some views from NZ when he invented the Middle Earth...

Thanks a lot, Bob, for this link.

Thank you so much Bob, trully breathtaking. And especially with the music of Coldplay. So many beautiful places on earth. Why are we destroying it like we do?

Kind regards
Patrick

I ask the same question many many times. It comes down to mans inability to see the bigger, wider picture and a whole chunk of greed thrown in for good measure.
The Earth will have her say and when she does, humans will be a long forgotten blip in her history.

To all those lucky people who live in New Zealand - I salute you and envy you   ;)  :-\

Thanks for posting that!
I usually get my "so this is why I do this" moments early morning, climbing out through the overcast to see the sunrise....

Fabulous Bobby,thanks for posting that.
A little off topic, but I read somewhere that Tolkien was inspired somewhat by the views of (I think thats what they are called!) the Black Mountains of North Wales. If you travel along the A5 from Telford to Shrewsbury, look over to your left, there is a great view of these mountains. And if its early dawn with a slight misty haze, its gotta be Mordor......spooky!

And as a Brummie born and bred, Dave, I'd have to add that a beautiful little area called Sarehole Mill in a suburb of Birmingham inspired the hobbits' home territory

Best wishes
Nigel
