Some time ago I reviewed this kit over on Aeroscale (http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=7622). Now I'm getting a build going.
After a very slow start waiting for the oil paint on the wood grain parts to dry, here's the fuselage buttoned up

The very strange looking passenger compartment top

And sitting posed on the wings. It's not a small model

This will be fun to watch come together.

Pretty cool Jessie! This is the first one of these I have seen started. I am looking forward to your Magic!

This will be a build I will keep an eye on, it is an interesting aircraft and I am keen to see how you put it together, have you picked a colour scheme for it yet?
Des.

It'll be this one

French blue fuselage and aluminium doped flying surfaces.

Very cool, Jessie! Looking forward to watching this one come together.
Cheers,
Bud

Interesting choice, Jessie. You are off to a good start. I look forward to
following along with your build. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hi Jessie,
Very nice and neat build up to now! This is an interesting plane. I'll be following your build.
Kind regards
Patrick

Jessie,
Well hello my old friend, glad to have you here. Always the most interesting and unusual subjects come from your talented bench. Very much looking forward to seeing this project come together.
Highest Regards,

Will be glued to this one, so to speak
Much appreciated, all the details you can show us; I have this in the stash and also the DH9 airliner and fancy pairing them up

G'day, Jessie.
That's looking good, mate. The blue and allie will be a really eye-catching scheme.
Dal.
-
Sorry Dal, I can't be much of a mate. I lack the necessary attributes.
-
Love me some DH4s!
LT
-
G'day, Jessie.
No attributes needed to be a mate, just shared interests (in this case making a pile of plastic bits look like an aeroplane). However, if you'd prefer I'll use your name, rather than "mate".
Cheers.
Dal.
-
Well, you see in most of the Commonwealth a "mate" is a bloke, and I just can't do that no matter how hard I try :) That's the attribute I lack.

I am remiss in neglecting this thread. The model is finished now and I forgot to tell you all about it. So here goes a couple of months' worth of modelling condensed into one post.
The horizontal flying surfaces have all their rigging mounts installed and ready for a bit of paint
(http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/photos/feature/4206/dehavilland_6.jpg)
Progress at last! I've got the preliminary paint on, and the major parts test fitted together
(http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/photos/feature/4206/dehavilland_7.jpg)
A little close-up of my anchor loops
(http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/photos/feature/4206/dehavilland_8.jpg)
Progress. If this were a monoplane I'd be nearly finished by now...
Now it's time to let the trained spider loose. First, the cross rigging between the interplane struts
(http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/photos/feature/4206/dehavilland_13.jpg)
This is anchored by looping the rigging line through the anchor point, wrapping it around once, pulling it tight, and then applying a drop of Superglue.
Next, the flying and landing wires. Thread on a short length of micro tube, run the line through the anchor point, then feed it back through the micro tube
(http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/photos/feature/4206/dehavilland_14.jpg)
Draw it tight, and anchor it with a drop of superglue on the end of the micro tube away from the anchor point.
Now I have both inner bays done, and I need to take a stress break

Done!

Very nice, Jessie! Well done!

That's come together nicely, Jessie. I do like the blue and silver scheme you used. It's a nice change from PC10/12.
Cheers.
Dal.

Beautiful Jessie, well done!
Kind regards
Patrick

Good job, Jessie! You and the spiders have done really well on the rigging and the
paint looks great...nice combination of the blue and silver. All in all, a really nice model'
Well done!
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Jessie C:
Good job on this one. It is nice to see this on the Forum. I have seen the box art, but this is the first time seen the model completed. Thanks for posting the completed airplane. Do you have any more shots of it from different angles?
Best

I put the rest of the finished build pictures in the finished builds forum ;)
