Title: Source for miniature wound springs

A while back Des used a tiny diameter wound spring for the tachometer cable in his WNW Snipe. I guess that it must be about .5mm OD or maybe even less. Does anybody have a source for these things, preferably US?

Have you tried roundwound guitar string? The smallest size available as far as I know is .017, which translates into 0.43mm. See here:

Your nearest music shop should have them and a single string will be enough for several squadrons. While at it pick also some unwound .008 strings. (0.02mm)

Have you thought of using metal guitar strings? The spiral wound type.
Heat them to burn out the core so theyre more flexible if needed. I used to use them for valve springs and ribbed hoses in other scales.. Not sure of the smallest dia you can get though.
