Title: Roden 1/32 Siemens Schuckert DIII
Post by: petrov27 on December 11, 2013, 11:41:34 AM
Been working on and off on this for years - had build threads going on two other forums but one is closed down and I do not really post at the other - been on the "shelf of doom" now for quite awhile. Dusted it off, fixed some problems with the paint and shot a new coat of semi gloss clear on it and am going to take another shot at finishing it up.

Heres a couple old pics from before I sealed up the fuselage:

A nice looking build! Somewhere in the recesses of my mind I seem to remember the gold crown decal from a build log. Whos lozenge is on the wings?

Hi RAGIII - the lozenge is Doug Baumans that he had put up on the Aerodrome - I used that to create my own "templated" decals that I printed on my laser printer:

prepping for the rigging is well underway this evening - starting with gaspatch turnbuckles and eyelets to attach them

Hello Petrov:

Been awhile since I have seen one of these on the forums.  I am looking forward to see how you proceed with this.  The lozenge looks good.  I have some of Dougs Lozenge, just haven't used any yet.  The cockpit looks pretty cool as well.
Best

This build comes at an extremely timely moment, as i am preparing to start my own build. Pheon's decals are very nice, like the lozenge you used.

Beautiful Build Petrov, great colour scheme and the interior is a joy to view.  I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a deal on this Kit, have the Pheon Sheet and a "plan" however it's a future project. :-\
Cheers,
Lance

Are you thinking of a D.IV conversion Lance?  That'sbeen in the back recesses of my mind for a while, but haven't figured out how to do it yet.  I should just build the D.III first!

Beautiful scheme Petrov!  ;D. Apologies for the brief thread detour.  :o

Cheers,

Bob

If I can locate a Kit for a reasonable price I'm thinking like you..........a simple DIII.

Roden have them advertised at the moment for $45.00 which is a really good price, naturally shipping has to be added. Go to   http://rodenkits.com

Sorry Petrov for jumping in on your beautiful build.

All of the rigging is set and prepped so I can attach the top wing - hopefully tomorrow.

Also armed it up and put the windshield on. Wow the close up makes it look rough and dusty but ah well!

Thanks again gents for the encouragement!

Well, I will not be able to finish this one in 2013 but I am getting there. We have top wing established! The fit of this was not good - I think I had a bit of a twist or warp in the lower wing though it looked to the eye ok - it was a bit of a trial thus getting things more or less square....

yeah doug had the kick ass colors and texture for the lozenge way before anyone else was doing it, i have been using dougs stuff exclusively until the recent times when he has become too busy and isnt able to supply the needs of the modelling community. i rejoice that we now have aviattic, my new favorite. my half built roden 1/32 ssw has dougs stuff on the wings. petrov i must say the build is progressing very nicely and i will enjoy the final result even more.
