Title: RE8 A4267 operated by the Vintage Aviator
Post by: Jamo on November 19, 2013, 06:28:58 PM
This is the third of TVAL's RE8 reproductions, the first being the one on static at the Aviation Heritage Centre at Omaka and the second was exported to the RAF Museum in the UK. Hopefully this one will be staying at Hood Aerodrome! It is finished in the markings of '7' of 52 Squadron, an Austin-built aircraft, which is one of the markings offered by Wingnut Wings (option B). It differs from the 2nd reproduction in that it has a rack of 20lb bombs under the fuselage and the Vickers Challenger interrupter gear fitted (fitted to early RE8's). Rather than redo all the interior shots this thread will focus on the bomb rack and release toggle and the Vickers Challenger interrupter gear.

The weathering on the exhaust looks interesting, as does the 'spotty' dirt on the wing fabric, rain & exhaust?

Note that the style of pilot's seat belts are not authentic. One of the few concessions to modern practice necessary for certification

Many more in the album

Thankyou for taking the time to post these excellant pics! Can anyone tell me what the little 'exhaust' pipes are underneath the engine (the ones that stick out underneath the plane)?
