Hi guys
I got started this weekend on the new project. The fee went on the backburner
as we have a big competition here in April, and the Snipe has more chance
of making it than the fee . . . . So, I have started on the instrument panel
as you can see, and its good to be back. Ive had a good look at all of your
amazing builds and I am impressed with all that you guys do.
Anyhow . . .
Have a great week
All the very best

You have made a great start Dave with an excellent instrument panel, you will thoroughly enjoy this build, I did.
Des.
-
Cheers Des, I printed off a copy of your build, and as they are always top notch,
I use them as a guide, and your snipe is amazing . . . Hope I can make as good
a job . . 8)
Have a good one Des

Gday Bud
I'm doing the one from (late) Hawkinge 1923, the one with the checker
board stripe and the red tail . . . . Tried to find a different scheme
on the old internet, but not much out there really. That one just
caught my eye, so went for it.
Good to hear from you Bud

Dave,
The panel is just outstanding, looking very much forward to following this one..................another "Cover Girl" perhaps?!? ;)
Cheers,
Lance

Hello Dave:
Per usual, outstanding work on the Instrument Panel. Is it all kit parts or is there some kit bashing as well? I am currently on another DVII, this time the "F", but the Snipe is next up. I will be watching as you progress through this build. IT looks like another "stunner" in the works.
Best
Mark
-
Wonderful start, Dave! I have been waiting for your next project,
and am happy to see you are building the Snipe. I will be following
it avidly as I will be building it in the future, using your talents as
a guide. The instrument panel is a gorgeous taste of what's to come.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Cheers lads,
I love a bit of kit bashing 8)
Keeps me sane ;)

Dave
Aha! I figured as much.
-
Thought I would try some raf wires for the inside of
the Snipe as they were fitted, so here's a piccy, just
a trial fit really, the ones on the wings are in the
too hard basket . . .
All the best
Dave
-
Dave,
Nice work on the wires, and like you I won't even consider venturing into the wing wires with them. They look terrific, and now I have a use for them! ::)
Cheers,
Lance
-
Cheers Lance, its amazing what you can do with
squashed plastic 8)
-
Looks great!!! Mate where did you get those flat wires?
I`m thinking all over again how to reproduce them in 1/48
-
Its just stretched sprue sqaushed
-
Good idea Dave with the squashed stretched sprue, they certainly look the part. I didn't realise that they had the flat wires inside the cockpit, seems pointless really.
Des.
-
Good old British ingenuity. Even the Snipe I saw at the
Rememberance airshow at TVAL last weekend has them,
as per the real thing . . . So why not bung them in eh?
Have a good one Des
Dave
-
Squashed sprue...Dave that's a new one for me! ;D Good thing
to file away for future use. Thanks!
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
Dave,
How in the heck did miss this one ? Beautiful progress my old friend. The squashed sprue idea is a great tip too, thank you for that.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

Hello Dave:
Neat idea and looks the part. To me it looks a tad overscale, but I like the effect. I think once buttoned up, it will look terrific.

Mark
-
Just a trial filt anyway, to see if would look anything like
the part, so as they say, watch this space.
Cheers Mark
Dave

Interesting stuff Dave.
-
Hi Dave,
Your instrument panel looks extremely good and I like the wood tone very much. It will become a smashing model.
Kind regards
Patrick
-
Hello Kong
Belatedly, that's a lovely instrument panel on your Snipe.
One of the things with this great forum is that it keeps challenging my assumptions and pre-conceptions. I had decided in the grand scale of things that maybe I would give the Snipe a miss. You may be about to change my mind.
Best wishes
Nigel
-
Great idea on the Squashed sprue! I once went as far as sanding sprue to an airfoil and then stretching. Only worked for very small runs :-\
RAGIII
PS: Never had any luck stretching the pre made Airfoil strips 0f plastic :'(
RAGIII
-
Thanks lads . . .I scaled the interior aerfoil bracing and it comes
out at about 0.2mm, and I think it wouldnt be a sin to have it at 0.3mm
just to see it, so I am going for it.
Have a great weekend my good friends ;)
Its sunny here in NZ
Dave
-
Dave,
I just re-read this Thread, I think I made the wrong assumption on your bracing wires as it appears you've used "squashed sprues"? I had taken them as small runs of the RB Productions wire............. gave me the idea to try to use it for the same purpose. Either way she's looking like another great Build!
Cheers,
Lance
-
I tend to try and make my own than buy it Lance.
If push comes to shove, then I would. I like the wee
challenge of trying. It doesnt always work, but it a bit
of fun . . . Have a good one Lance, good to hear from you
Dave
ps LOVE the triplane . . . Excellent work
-
Wee update, started on the cockpit sides and all
the little bits attached. This one is fiddly but all
is good. Hope you all had a good weekend.
All the best
Dave

An awesome WEE update! The interior looks spectacular so far!!
RAGIII

Looking really good Dave, I also found the cockpit interior a little fiddly to work with but it all works out in the end, looking forward to your next update.

-
Wow Dave that looks great. Love the flattened bracing wires.
-
G'day Bo
Its just stretched sprue, gently squashed between two
bits of thin steel sheet, in a small hobby vice. Takes a few
tries to get it right though
Cheers
Dave
