hi all!
here I am again, to a feeble attempt to make watchable the roden kit dedicated to nieuport 24bis, which I would like to build as one of the horses of nungesser...
7891(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_7891_zpscae898a1.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_7891_zpscae898a1.jpg.html)
so far only sniffed the box, and looked here and there in the cockpit and engine ... I would not like going into too much detail, here I am more interested to play with the painting, completely silver.
7892(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_7892_zpsbc6534c2.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_7892_zpsbc6534c2.jpg.html)
nevertheless, I have already changed (improved?) something. added some detail (tom's modelwork) to the cockpit, and modified engine and hood.

Great start on the Nieuport, Paolo, my friend. The interior is looking
really good. Nice job on the seat and cushion. With your talents, Paolo,
it will end up a perfect model.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Great choice of subject Paolo, and with the addition of Toms modelworks bits this will, with your talents, end up as a really nice model, I;m looking forward to seeing your next updates.

Excellent start, Paulo, and brilliant choice of subject. You've chosen my favorite Nieuport scheme.

I'm impressed you've got the engine up and running already! :D

As all of the others have said, terrific start! I hjave this kit in the stash so I will follow yours closely!

Hi paulo.
Great start indeed.
Cheers
-
thank you all, indeed I didn't do too much, yet...
I started spraying some colors on the interiors just to get them ready to close the fuselage, but I'm seriously doubtful about the colors to be used on the metallic frame and the controls of the cockpit! any ideas?
assuming that the canvas was painted in silver just outside of the kite, I painted the interiors in radome tan, to be worked on , obviously.
8104(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8104_zps9ce7c3be.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8104_zps9ce7c3be.jpg.html)
and then played a little with alclads..
8106(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8106_zps90744b7a.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8106_zps90744b7a.jpg.html)
now it's time to work on with brushes to differentiate the various parts and materials involved.
8107(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8107_zps54a31b5e.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8107_zps54a31b5e.jpg.html)
and here the frame.... pink? apple green? ???
8108(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8108_zps9afb0e18.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8108_zps9afb0e18.jpg.html)
bye bye and thanks again for your attention and appreciation, I'm very sorry that I'm a little absent on other discussions, it's an hard time here, and being somewhat upset, I find difficult to write liberally... but I keep on reading! ;)

Looking really nice Paolo. Painting is super. Well done.
Kind regards

Looking great so far! Once you have the formers and stringers painted it should look awesome!

Nice work so far and Im with Bud- my favourite scheme!!

thank you, gents...
here a little upgrading. actually, I have such a number of concerns on this model, it would take an encyclopedia dedicated to unravel a bit the hank ... but pull ahead .
I got to the testing of the cockpit with dry components almost completed as preventive painting.
8126(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8126_zps9457afe3.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8126_zps9457afe3.jpg.html)
the front side of the fire wall with oil tank (I think) ...
8131(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8131_zpsd40b2c15.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8131_zpsd40b2c15.jpg.html)
and the engine with sparks & ignition on .
8129(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8129_zps0b9f4ded.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8129_zps0b9f4ded.jpg.html)
all wasted work , since will be buried within the nacelle, but that we want to do ' .... is stronger than me!
8137(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8137_zpsecf3d261.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8137_zpsecf3d261.jpg.html)
and here's what we'll see in the fuselage closed ...
8133(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8133_zps8ef98704.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8133_zps8ef98704.jpg.html)
whereas there will be some instruments (which I have to invent ) I would say that it's okay ..
8135(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8135_zpsb3a7fe49.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8135_zpsb3a7fe49.jpg.html)
but , for example, the shoulder straps , where they stick ?
8136(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8136_zpsa146f8f7.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8136_zpsa146f8f7.jpg.html)
doubts, doubts...

Looking better and better Paolo! Great job on the cockpit!
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Excellent work. The coiled ignition leads are a nice touch. Were these aircraft equipped with shoulder straps?
-
Hello Paolo:
Inspiring work considering this kit is not one of Rodens best. You are doing a fanstastic job on and I will be looking forward to your next update. I like your work on the engine, the plug wires are really neat with the little curly cues. I think the seat belts were just lap belts that attached at the floor and then up and over the sides of the seat.
Best
Mark
-
I'm pretty sure Mark is correct, the seat belt was just a lap belt. The cockpit looks very neat as does the engine.
Des.
-
Paolo I like your cockpit and seat very much as wel as the engine. Very fine modelling!
Kind regards
Patrick
-
Lovely cockpit and engine Paolo and I really like how you've captured them through the photographs.
Best wishes
Nigel
-
Nice engine. I like your anvil, too ;)
-
Nice engine and the cockpit.
-
eh eh, bo... that's my resident anvil! ;D ;D ;D
well, thank you all very much, ok, no shoulder harenss.
little upgrading, after long working at...
placed in front pillars and the fuselage touched up with all colors, ready to close the fuselage. so far nothing strange.
8150(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8150_zpscc29c940.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8150_zpscc29c940.jpg.html)
also prepared the prop into two tones + oil. I'm not convinced at all with the result ... I think tomorrow I'll started again from the primer on.
8153(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8153_zpsc413d91d.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8153_zpsc413d91d.jpg.html)
added ball and altimeter, pure gyzmos...
8154(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8154_zpsd1a5d469.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8154_zpsd1a5d469.jpg.html)
also by gyzmo the home-made belts. now missing some wiring and tubes, but I'll put them when glued in the fuselage, so far it is too delicate to handle.
8158(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8158_zps37406700.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8158_zps37406700.jpg.html)
et voila, glued the fuselage halves. I drilled and placed copper and steel tubes where the wing will attach, so I hope to make this pairing solid and precise.
well, at least better than as is... :o
8161(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8161_zpscb0e2917.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8161_zpscb0e2917.jpg.html)
already having the drill in hand, I made the holes for the buckles, the carriage and the uprights. I hope I have not forgotten anyone...
8163(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8163_zps45ae78fb.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8163_zps45ae78fb.jpg.html)
and that's it for today...
cheers, p. ;)

Very nice work on the inside of the fuselage sides, the propeller looks excellent, you did a great job with it, and the rest of the build is looking super, well done so far.

really, you're too kind...
in spite of the friend to whom I am building this kit has asked me to do it out of the box, I can not leave everything as it is, quite simply.
I needed the precise dimensions of lewis to close the fuselage, so I could not do anything but replace the original one with one of tom's modelworks:
8270(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8270_zps6aa0e1ae.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8270_zps6aa0e1ae.jpg.html)
after cooking on the fire the cooling jacket I rolled up on a drill bit, and prepared for some welding. quite easy.
8233(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8233_zps6cf51d31.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8233_zps6cf51d31.jpg.html)
as a barrel, and reference to assemble straight all the parts (21, at the end) I used a needle from external 0.5:
8230(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8230_zpse3548873.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8230_zpse3548873.jpg.html)
and here we are, now I have all dimensions I need to close the cowling top.
8251(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8251_zps2c91a830.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8251_zps2c91a830.jpg.html)
the conveyor belt is straight from the box... apart from that you see its quality, I wonder from where the belt came out!
8252(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8252_zps8d350373.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8252_zps8d350373.jpg.html)
8254(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8254_zps0a4d88b0.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8254_zps0a4d88b0.jpg.html)
if the belt has no positive location, from under the gun comes out a pipe that flows here ... but what's the use?!?
8256(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8256_zps2c76be8f.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8256_zps2c76be8f.jpg.html)
and now, before falling in love with the object in natural brass, a nice coat of primer...
8269(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8269_zps6053be0d.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8269_zps6053be0d.jpg.html)
ok, there is something to touch up, but already it is better than the one from the box, I would say, even if it lacks the longitudinal ribs...
8267(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8267_zpsdda05757.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8267_zpsdda05757.jpg.html)
and here the objective of the session, close the front part of the fuselage .. really small, uh??
8278(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8278_zps46ff20ab.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8278_zps46ff20ab.jpg.html)
bye bye, p. ;)

one step or two ahead... holed all around to accept brass pins,

and some alclad to the front cowling.
8337(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8337_zps5b182e81.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8337_zps5b182e81.jpg.html)

what I would achieve it's a canvas painted in silver, not a metallic finish. it seems that a preshading will help, but neither alclad nor vallejo steel seems the right stuff, to me... I think something more whitish should work... any ideas?
cheers, p. ;)
-
Paolo,
Great update my friend. She's shaping up to be one beautiful project. What shade of Alcad have you tried? I like the white aluminum shade for painted fabric areas on my projects finished in natural metal . If you can find it the Floquil "Old Silver" also works very well too. Keep up the outstanding work !
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Wow! Great update!! I would go with a flat Aluminum with a minimal addition of grey mixed in. For fabric I used to add grey even to Floquil Old Silver. JMHO,
RAGIII
-
Paolo, for the fabric areas, I think I would go with Alclad Flat Aluminum
or White Aluminum. In the meantime, you are doing a wonderful job
on the Nieuport!
Cheers,
Ernie
-
Excellent updates Paolo and you did a brilliant job on the machine gun.
Des.

Great work Paolo! You've made it look much easier than I know it is with this kit, and easier than my Ni.27 was! ;) Very well done my friend! I look forward to seeing her in full plumage. :D

Hi Paolo,
It's becoming nicer and nicer. And you work so fast! Your details are briljant. Excellent log and pictures too.
Kind regards
Patrick

She's coming together beautifully, Paulo. I used Tamiya flat aluminum for mine and it allowed the preshading to show through just fine.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Wow... you're fast!
Your atention to detail and ability to get it done it's remarcable Paolo.
Very nive indeed.

thank you all for the suggestions!
I tried flat and polished aluminium... now I'm going to search some white alu from alclad. rag, when you say that you add grey... wich type (brand, I mean) of grey is?
I must admit that I'm surprised by my speed on this project, but also I have to say that I'm not working, on these days, so plenty of free time (well, almost) and that I skip on some details I don't fully understand, on specific request of the friend to whom it will go at the end..
so, on these conditions, it's easy!
bye bye, p.

I am not a scientific modeler so I keep things simple. If I am using Testors Model Masters Aluminum I add a Model Master grey. This would also go for Floquil Old Silver and a Floquil grey, etc., etc. IHTH,

aye aye, rag...
using alclads, I guess what I can mix with... but maybe the preshading work that I started todat will be enough...?
it's a long story of tape and greys, I just did the low part of the kite, I hope it will work!

I'm not sure what you can mix Alclad colors with (besides other Alclad colors). Whatever you do, DON'T mix the Alclad with any of their sealer products -- the result is not pretty.
I would go with their semi-matte aluminum color for the silver dope areas, maybe add some of the other aluminum colors here and there for interest.
-
Very nice Paolo! Bo is right about the Alclads. The good news is Alclad come in many shades
so you should be able to come up with the "just right" ones. You are making great progress on the Nieuport. They are such sweet little aeroplanes and your model is a perfect example, even in it's
as yet unfinished state.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Paolo:
Trying to shade the rib tapes with silvers is a tricky thing and much experimentation. You are doing a great job on this difficult kit. I am looking forward to see how you progress. You may want to try some thinned Tamiya acrylics on a piece of scrap and see how that works out for you. Lots of good advice here.

Mark
-
If you apply light misty coats and slowly build up the collor you should be ok with just the Alclad shades just dont cover it in one go but mist it on.
Regards Ron
-
The pre shading looks great and I think thr suggestion of misting on the Alclad is a good solution! Should look terrific. The other thing is that you can also get variance by using different clear finishes, ie Semi gloss, matte, and gloss.

Hello Paolo:
The preshading on the fuselage looks just right in the pictures. If it looks like that on the model, I would leave it alone. The rest should turn out quite nice as you have done an excellent job of preshading to represent depth and the contours.
Looking forward to more.

here we are!
first of all, thank for all the help and encouragement. I hope to be at the level of your appreciation and models!
arrived the white alu, and having a free afternoon, I tried it on the low wing. seeming to me acceptable, I keep on going on all the kite.
I build it up the color with light passages, trying to be smooth, even and splash-free... obviously it didn't work at 100%, and now I keep it out from my eyes to have the necessary critical mind and fresh eye to judge it.
but you have not this limitation, so have a look and say me how it seems to you, please! :)
upper wing, underside.

upper wing, up side. in the following pics you can see the difference that it's possible to have just tilting the wing in the light...

it seems to me that on the left tip and aileron is needed another light coat..
here on a white sheet:
8568(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8568_zpsba87fa17.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8568_zpsba87fa17.jpg.html)
I think that it will improve with a matt coat on... but for that it's better to wait after the decals, I suppose.
well, for tonight it's all, I think.
read you in the next days, bye! ;)

The new paint and shading look fantastic, Paolo! The Nieuport is really
starting to look itself with a coat like that. Good work, my friend. :)
Cheers,

I think you are coming up with great results. You could quit where you are or.... I tend to be CONSERVATIVE so I would give the wings one more coat,
JMHO, You are the ultimate JUDGE!
RAGIII

that's it, gents,
I gave another alu light mist coat, then a future's coat, and decals.

then I'll give another coat of future, and finally I may try to correct the insignas.
8627(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8627_zps371b6da7.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8627_zps371b6da7.jpg.html)
in fact, since they were for an academy kit (thank you again, LindsayT!) don't fit exactly the roden's wing.
8630(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8630_zps0b3fac10.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8630_zps0b3fac10.jpg.html)
also, I was obliged to made a patchwork to obtain a nungesser's Nieuport... on the tail I used not less than eight decals, in a risky affair of layers over layers.

thank you al, gents!
today was the day... ready for a lot of pics?
we start as usual, from the beginning, nay, from the tail:
tweaking the colors, and then masking the decals in place, although protected by a film of the future, driven to those result...
8656(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8656_zps93bf6d6f.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8656_zps93bf6d6f.jpg.html)
s**it happens ... brush, patience, and eye.
oh, well. I re-adjusted the adjustable and masked again for postshading.
8666(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8666_zps3237f3db.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8666_zps3237f3db.jpg.html)
and here we are.
8670(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8670_zpse50c02cf.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8670_zpse50c02cf.jpg.html)
but, you will ask and wonder, also raising those tiny ribbons may weed out the color? the answer, my beautiful little fairies, is YES '. :-\
8671(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8671_zpsf977f906.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8671_zpsf977f906.jpg.html)
but the model is suffering. ooooom.... where was the deep blue?
the bulk of the work was obviously not the tail, but the upper wing ... here it is. I'll put an uninterrupted and boring sequence of photos to explain, I hope you interest and can be useful.
first of all, after a future's coat, I masked all the wing and I reworked white, red and blue.
8661(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8661_zps5168fa8a.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8661_zps5168fa8a.jpg.html)
and then I gave it another coat of clear matt. here it is, as expressive as nicholas cage... ::)
8664(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8664_zpsa8cccceb.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8664_zpsa8cccceb.jpg.html)
good. now in with tape, over and over again.
8665(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8665_zps65bbd981.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8665_zps65bbd981.jpg.html)
then I gave it a coat of raw umber oil paint very diluted. I'm just beginning experimenting with this technique, I find it may give very interesting results, using the airbrush with oils.
8676(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8676_zps840a52b5.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8676_zps840a52b5.jpg.html)

eheheheh... ;D ;D ;D
I'm glad you like it, I am also fairly satisfied...
bob, the trick can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoXHVs65NFQ
actually, I didn't match exactly the colors, but build up some different layers one over another until seam and difference was not noticeable more! then, the oil colors mist sprayed on made the final curtain!
today I did some little advancing on this subject:
glued on all the last little things in the front top fuselage area (by the way, someone knows how was like the aiming system of the vickers?)
8707(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8707_zpse08f56bc.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8707_zpse08f56bc.jpg.html)
and straightened up the pins for the last coupling.
8710(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8710_zps22a0ba0b.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8710_zps22a0ba0b.jpg.html)
a last dry fit,
8712(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8712_zpsebb963ba.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8712_zpsebb963ba.jpg.html)
and, also if seems that there are some tension on the whole, I trust in the bicomponent glue and in the fit of the pins.
8714(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8714_zps199bf06c.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8714_zps199bf06c.jpg.html)

Now he does all night under load, and tomorrow we'll see if the landing gear is straight out..
cheers, p. ;)

Your rigging looks excellent! That is certainly a daring and unique way to test/align the gear!

Outstanding rigging my friend.

I like to live dangerously... ;D ;D ;D
but, hey, it works!
it holds, so I put on the last rigging,
8821(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8821_zps73bedd8d.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8821_zps73bedd8d.jpg.html)
and some details, like the step.
8815(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8815_zps34364c66.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8815_zps34364c66.jpg.html)
the next... step should have been painting wheels and building controls ailerons, but tonight I did not really want, so I have just a little fun with oily dirt.
starboard,
8830(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8830_zpsdb5e3f8e.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8830_zpsdb5e3f8e.jpg.html)
port,
8831(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8831_zps7356907c.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8831_zps7356907c.jpg.html)
under belly.
8817(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8817_zps42660507.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8817_zps42660507.jpg.html)
and that's it.
8832(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8832_zpsb1a37ade.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8832_zpsb1a37ade.jpg.html)
I'm pretty close to the end. now I am thinking also to a base surface that will enhance the painting... maybe a green short cut grass with just some blue flowers?
bye, p. ;)

Stunning work! I am extremely impressed by those who take the time to turn Roden kits into kits rivaling WNW!

The model is gorgeous! I plan to try as many of your weathering and finishing techniques as possible on my future possible.

Very impressive results Paolo! I love what you've done with this kit. ;D. Outstanding work.

Great work Paolo, this is a beauty of a Build! The oil stains on the "belly" are very well done; it all has come together very well.
Cheers,
Lance

I'm overwhelmed Paolo. This is such a beautiful build and plane. You have done a very great job. Wow!
Kind regards
Patrick
-
Absolutely wonderful work, Paolo! Your weathering/staining is just
gorgeous. Beautifully done, my friend!
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
thank you all!
well, less than minor interventions and various retouches you'll want to tell me, I here testify it
f i n i s h e d .
of course, I have to attach it to a base, and in a hurry, because these things are an embarrassing weakness, but the model is complete in and of itself, I think.
some pictures, just to enjoy? ;D
8843(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8843_zpsfcbcfa14.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8843_zpsfcbcfa14.jpg.html)
nothing new, you'll say. what has changed?
little stuff: added the aileron controls, and its rigid rods.
8851(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8851_zpsfe70be23.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8851_zpsfe70be23.jpg.html)
the same from below. I also added an aldis aiming device model on vickers. actually, in photos you do not see many, this is the only one I could find a picture!
8859(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8859_zpsb47b37cf.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8859_zpsb47b37cf.jpg.html)
I completed the cart with the rubber elastic..
8866(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8866_2_zps40d531c9.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8866_2_zps40d531c9.jpg.html)
and switched back to colors. mud and other crap on his belly, trying to follow the helical flow due to the propeller.
8865(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8865_zps8d4353e0.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8865_zps8d4353e0.jpg.html)
on the upper surfaces, as well as dirt from the exhaust, I did the usual dots with oils. given the special livery, I kept on color "light": just yellow and white.
8872(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8872_zps82cff123.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8872_zps82cff123.jpg.html)
maybe it's not so readable, but the right wing root bears the marks of the exhaust..
8873(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8873_zps15c59d94.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8873_zps15c59d94.jpg.html)
which then extends on the right side.
8876(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8876_zps74072650.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8876_zps74072650.jpg.html)
and that's it. clear prop, contact!
8884(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8884_zps3616aa0a.jpg) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/Nieuport%2024bis/IMG_8884_zps3616aa0a.jpg.html)
well...
0650(http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz104/mc65-1/varie/IMG_0650_zps0d00811d.png) (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/mc65-1/media/varie/IMG_0650_zps0d00811d.png.html)
bye bye, p. ;)
