Just arrived home from hospital after undergoing eye surgery to rectify a cataract in my right eye. The surgery went well, took about 20 minutes, but I will not know the results until tomorrow, my eye is heavily patched and I will be seeing the doctor at 7.45 tomorrow morning when he will remove the patch and add some eye drops. When he saw me after the operation he assured me that all went very well.

Normally such an operation is without complications. Couldn“t you take a peek at one of the corners? Usually you will then discover improved brightness, better color (less yellow) and sharp sight. Shortly after surgery it is at its best.
I hope you won't suffer from one of the nice side effects that rarely occur ;)

Ivo

My wife had cataract surgery in both eyes recently, and she described it later as getting a new
set of eyes. Her only problem is with close work, reading, computer, etc. Apparently that
was the trade-off, considering her eyes were in terrible shape. So she has glasses for that. Distance
is no problem...she can spot flies at 300 yards. ;D
All in all, she says she would recommend the surgery to anyone with cataracts.
Des I hope all goes well for you, which I'm sure it will.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Good luck Des.
Like Ernie I had a relation who had cataracts in both eyes done and, making a speedy recovery, she too joked getting a new pair of eyes.
Best wishes

...she can spot flies at 300 yards. ;D
...and a Wingnut Wings Box from a 1000 yards with one eye closed ;D
Good luck, Des!

Here's to a full and speedy recovery, mate. It's a selfish request, since I really want to see that Spinne completed.

I hope that everything goes well. I had a relative that made that same surgery and he keeps saying that he has a new eye.
Hoping for the good news too.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Just try not to strain them on TOO much detail work!
-
JFC. You've been doing all that detail work with a G.D. bad eye!?
A sincere wish for a speedy recovery,Des, but honestly... ;D

Thanks very much for the kind wishes. I went to the specialist today and he removed the patch and applied some drops to my eye, the vision is excellent, crystal clear. He said it will take a few days to settle down but for now it is really good. He also said that my left eye will need doing as well, probably in a few months, so for now I can get back to serious modeling.
Lindsay, it has been a bit difficult building the Fokker Spinne with only one good eye, I had some very frustrating days trying to focus on the smaller detail items, but some how I managed to get through it, now that I can see properly I will find all the mistakes I have made :)

Glad it's worked Des!
Hope you're not in too much discomfort..
If the Spinne is that good with one dodgy eye - your next build wil be something to behold! :o
Get well soon..

I'm so happy that all is well with the eye, Des. Gad, it's a frightening thought
what wonders you are going to come up with, with two good eyes! ;) ;D
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Good to hear that all is well. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will remain like this in the coming weeks!

Hi Des,
Glad to read that all is well with your eye. As Ernie said, what magic builds will come out with two perfect eyes! My eyes are constantly deteriorating and my depth view is nearly gone. The glueing is sometimes all over the place and I wonder if I will be able to continue this fantastic hobby without ruining kit after kit.
Kind regards
Patrick

Hi Patrick. I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with your vision as well.
I guess the short answer is continue on as long as you are able. Glue spots aside,
you are a really good modeller. Onward and upward, my friend!
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Kidding aside, I'm glad that your vision is back to where it should be, Des. My eyesight is just not something I'm willing to screw around with, and I can't imagine losing it anymore than I already have to deal with in terms of glasses. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Glad to hear that everything it's ok with your eye.
You've been doing the Spinne with one eye? I couldn't do that with my both good eyes! I guess i could go back to fishing ::) !

I was allowed to drive my car yesterday and it was so nice to get behind the wheel again, I missed driving my Jag. To my amazement my vision is excellent, I can now see every little bit of detail way ahead of the car, it is incredible what a difference the surgery has made, the marvels of modern medicine.

Great to see you back to normal, Des, and wondering how you intend to beat the last one. Your Builds are so educational, I truly enjoy them and look forward to the next project!
