I'm so sorry. There's not even any rigging on it. :'(

I can only apologise for my moment of weakness...

Wow, Dave, that's an incredible build! Beautiful work. What's the "compare and contrast" between Tamiya and Wingnuts? I'd love to get a Spit Mk VIII, but the $120+shipping price tag has me really considering whether it's worth it.

keep looking at ebay and a cheap one will come along.

Nice shiney bird!!

Lovely model, Dave! I've always thought the Spitfire was hands down the
most graceful designed plane from WWII. You have certainly done her justice...and
you can count the radio antenna as rigging. ;) ;D
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Very nice Dave. Such raw power and elegance - and a very accomplished build on your part.
Best wishes

Beautiful build of a beautiful bird Dave, I have read a lot about the Tamiya Spitfire, is it as good as everyone is saying?
Des.
-
I've heard nothing but good things about it. That's a lovely build.
-
It's just stunning Des. It needs AM exhausts as they have ejector marks, but the rest is amazing. Not many kits we'll enough to used NMF. There is NO filler used here.
The decals are thick, but I always go AM anyway. I was a bit overigged after an albatros debacle. I will try to resist. I must be strong....

Don't be too hard on yourself Dave..
I built one a while ago.. As you say it's a beauty of a kit - as you open the box it just exudes quality! But I'm kinda addicted to WW1 now! Although it does keep you sane to dabble in something different - I saw an Ebbro 1:20 Lotus racing car at a club night night the other day and I've a little urge to have a go - never built anything like it - not particularly interested in motor racing - but another beauty of a kit - I'm always tempted by quality ::)
Hope I'm not hijacking your thread but here's my Spit..

Oh Don't !!!!!!!!!!!!.............
Very quietly, but determinedly I have been slowly collecting 1/32 kits that will sit under the title banner of "Battle of Britain". The object of course is to build them - but seeing as I've become a collector by default [although I still intend to build every kit I've got]. I'd be relatively happy to have them on a shelf - I get a surprising (worrying)? amount of pleasure from groking kits.
But to see these kits built, and to these standards ... well it does absolutely nothing for my resolve. I foundered on which spitfire to get as I'm lost when it comes to aircraft kits - research online seems to throw up conflicting opinions, coupled with the different Marks available/appropriate. But it's not a quest or anything ..... so as and when they appear I pick them up.
Of course someone shoved those darn WNW kits under my nose which didn't help - coupled with the Morane which is turning into a nightmare and destroying any confidence I ever had as a modeller. It seems I'll have plenty of time to accrue and build any Battle of Britain kits. .............. although philosophically speaking - it's time that I'm running short of!

Go for it Andi..
I'm not tempted by the Corsair for some reason?
But if they brought out a Luftwaffe aircraft - I'd be doomed :'(
Guy
-
...like maybe an Arado 234..... :P

I have the first Spit Mk9 they released and the First P51. both gorgeous kits but £ for £ and for the extras and detail WNW would win out every time. When you pay the prices Tamiya expect you would imagine at least some weaponry in the gun bays for instance and their decals (especially the P51) left a bit to be desired. But as a kit they are gorgeous. The Corsair is tempting but theres so many other things out there right now... I think the Meng Renault WWI tank in 1;35 is my next off subject temptation

The Tamiya Spitfire is why I'd never dare venture into 1:32; it's my favorite aeroplane of all time, and I'd reduce myself to penury and sell my unborn children into slavery. I've never seen a build of one (this one most definitely included) that didn't look absolutely amazing, so if I were to build one myself, with my abysmal skills, it'd only be adding insult to financial injury.

You'd have to be a simian with no thumbs to botch this one mate!!

Hello Dr. Dave:
Outstanding work on the Spit! Natural metal finishes are always a bear to make look good and yours looks the real deal. No filler!! It is amazing what is being produced in plastic these days. The Corsair beckons at this time, but; with my stash being what it is it will have to wait.
Thanks for sharing
Best

Well, Dr. Dave, if it makes you feel any better, I also succumbed to the lure of the Mk.IX Spitfire myself.
It was my first foray back into the world of 1/32 scale aircraft after a near 30 year hiatus, and prompted me to stick with 1/32. In all honesty, had I not built that Spit, I would never had considered even looking at Wingnut Wings. Now that my fingers have regained most of their dexterity, I'll be back to working on my Albatros.
And, for the record, I decided to add an IFF antenna to mine, so technically it DOES have rigging! ;D
-
She's a beauty Dr. Dave and it makes me want to pull mine out of the stash.
Cheers,
Chris

both spits are looking great! I'm working on the new 1:48 Spit from Eduard at the moment - I need to build something not WWI from time to time :)
Best regards,
