Title: WNM C VI and Va
Post by: FokkerFodder on September 22, 2013, 06:59:19 PM
My 3rd and 4th models nearly completed, minus the little folk to stand around said planes! Not sure the C VI actually witnessed a heavy frost in late 1918 (I looked up weather reports –fog, cold, wet… frosts? Who knows…) but I liked the idea and the model turned out quite dark so the white lightens it up a bit. A prop from Doug and W&W decals for on top for the  CVI.

I'm not great at loading up images, so I've broken into a couple of seperate posts. I might be indulgent and re-post when the figures are done.....

cheers
FF

Nicely done, FF!  Beautiful job on the Albatros.  I really like the frosty effects...I haven't seen
that done before and it looks very convincing, especially the grass. Excellent job!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

She's stunning, FF.  I agree with Ernie about the frost.  I especially like the tire tracks.  Very effective.
Cheers,
Bud

Your C.VI is very nice. Fine wood, nicely done base. It would be great to see some close-ups with details.

Very good model: the frost effect is most convincing and original. With figures this would be a winner so I hope that you will be indulgent and indulge the rest of us with more pictures.

Very nicely done FF, the LVG was my first WNW build, it is a very impressive kit which you have turned into a superb model, the base is excellent as well.

Beautiful FF!  I really like the varnished wood tone you achieved on the fuselage. ;D  The overallo model is veryu impressive as well.  Excellent job!

Really nice work Fokker Fodder,

I like the look of the Wings and Wires lozenge.....do you have any images of the underside lozenge that you could post please?

What type of wooden prop did you have Doug manufacture for your LVG?

Thanks for posting ,

Best wishes,

Dave

Thank you for all the kind comments.... the photos are a little kind I think!  Anyhow, the LVG was a great kit;  the usual WNM tight fits applied and the few problems I encountered were of my own doing.

I will post a couple of close-up photos when the figures are done - combined with the Va there are 6 + 1 cow and a dog.

D in D - it was an Axial. Doug gave three options and I chose the 'hefty'one as the LVC is quite boxy. The W n W decals are the bees knees - my first real attempt at lozenge (not counting the HB 29), and my lack of expertise shows around some of the raised detail on the lower wing, where the decals didn't rest easily. With a bit of shading its not really noticable and could be seen as wrinkles in the linen anyhow. Otherwise they went on really well (straight over white Surface 1000) although they are delicate and chip easily while on the paper backing. I followed McGunns suggestion (I think?) and only used them for the top lozenge - WNM provided ones for the bottom. Side by side the difference is very pronounced but to be honest its hard to notice once the model is in situ on its base...  cheers FF
