Title: Revell 1/28 Fokker DVII
Post by: Epeeman on September 19, 2013, 06:11:31 AM
All,

Completed earlier this evening -

It's a shame Revell no longer still offer this model - a seriously good kit with sharply molded parts (with no flash, etc), good, basic detail and superbly fitting parts.   If built completely OOB with no alterations, this kit would pretty much fall together.  A thoroughly enjoyable build from start to finish - recommended.   In fact, I would love to see what you more professional boys could do with this model.

The main alterations I made to this kit was to straighten out the upper wing and slim down the fuselage towards the tail.  This was where much of the work in this kit was.   OK, I know there are accuracy issues, but it looks like a Fokker DVII to me!   The only slight let down in the kit were the decals - a bit on the thick side and very brittle - reminded me of Roden decals in some ways.   One strange thing, Revell only provide lozenge decals for the upper wing surfaces with none for the undersides.   Therefore, please use your imagination on the colours and markings.

Overall, I'm really very pleased with how this one has turned out - my first build with no mistakes as well.

Hope you like it!

Regards

Dave

Nice one, Dave!  She really is a beauty.  Very clean and sharp.  In spite of the faulty decals, you've done a truly brilliant job.
Cheers,
Bud

Very nice looking D.VII indeed.

It was a real pleasure to watch this thead and that build taking place. No one would tell that you paint brush your models... "old school" done exemplarily.

Your right in being pleased with it! Congrats.

Cheers

You have made a model to be proud of, Dave.  Especially since it was a little
long in the tooth to begin with.  Great job!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Many thanks, gents -

Honestly, don't sell this old kit short.  It really is worth the effort and you get a nice large model at the end of it.

Dave

Hello Dave:

Just catching up here.  Great job.  I have a couple of these and one is slated with the markings you have done.  You are correct in assessing not to sell the kit short.  As you wrote, it looks like a Fokker DVII.

Best

Mark

What a fine colourful model. Congratulations, Dave.
One doubt, is it just me - in the front shots the span seems to be too large when compared to the wing gap. Or am I completely mistaken with my proportion feeling for D.VII?

Lovely Dave..

Really nice to see this kit come together.

Now, if only Wingnuts did a 1/28th kit..   :D

Guy

Edit.. Perhaps not the Gotha!  :o

Sorry but I am catching up too. That is avery fine model - very many congratulations. I am extremely impressed with your brushwork - I also use a hairy stick and I would like to be able to achieve your standard every time. It looks like a D VII to me too - I did not know that Revel had produced this kit at one time. Like their 1/72 scale models there is clearly a huge amount of potential in this kit - well worth building.

Excellent work, Dave.  Those D.VII's have some very interesting schemes and you nailed that one.

Good stuff, mate.

Dal.

Thank you, gentleman -

Prez - you may be right (I really don't have a clue I'm afraid) but like I said earlier - yes, the kit has some errors (the most obvious I corrected) but on the whole a superb kit - certainly looks like a Fokker DVII to my eyes - plus you you get a really large model to boot.
