Hi everyone,
I am toiling away on an 1/48 Eindecker, using .04mm brass tube to represent
the turnbuckles. What I am wondering is should I leave them brass
colour, or paint them dark grey or something similar?
Thanks for the help!
Best Regards,
Ernie

From what I can work out they would have been made of steel on the Fokker Eindeckers.

Thanks, Bo!

I tend to paint them a mix of steel and brass to try to get a cadmium plated look. I did read the turnbuckles on the E. series were colour coded though somewhere.

I make all my turnbuckles out of brass tube, with me handling the brass over time it tarnishes to a very nice bronze colour, I have seen original turnbuckles in a bronze colour.

Here are some turnbuckles which give an idea of the colour, the first one is what Achim Engels used on his Fokker builds.
