That is awesome news....Now just waiting for a Friedrichshafen G.III....

Based on the photo it looks a bit more space- manageable than the Gotha so it may sell well to those wanting a showpiece in their Wingnut Wings collection.
As to Richard's ( BStachel) comments that WNW don't tell us of new or forthcoming releases etc through their website or forums such as this, it's apparently traditional for new products to be announced at major trade shows such as Shizuoka where Wingnuts has a stand this year. I'm sure the AEG will soon appear as 'in development' on the Wingnuts site among the model kitsets selection.
As for such announcements on forums such as this, WNW does not announce any new products on the forums. They leave it to modellers to do their free PR for them. Go through the various forums' histories and you will never see a post from Wingnut Wings. But they are there every day monitoring any post relating to them or their kits, they just don't ever post any comments or news.
Take the AEG announcement. They show the model at Shizuoka and we, the customers, take to the forums to promote it for them.

No one should be surprised at this approach by WNW. They came into existence out of nowhere and have always relied upon word of mouth to spread the word. I could not care less about their habits for announcing new subjects. I buy their models because they are well made.

Well, this beast fills the #32034 model number hole....

Wonderful!!! :D
I was tempted by the Gotha but is too big.. this looks perfect.
Ok, I have almost finished my Fe2b and ordered my next project ( Roland DVI).
The next one will be this or the Salmson ... or both ::)

Right you are Dave: Pretty ingenious as their advertising costs are probably next to nothing. As Bill Murray said in Caddy Shack: "How about a little something for the effort" would be nice: A friendly "nod" to the modelers; but it is fun to see this stuff appear as if out of nowhere, and then there is the big "bombshell" they usually drop around Christmas. Dave Johnson does come on the forums on occasion. Keeps us all coming back for more.

Well WNW's website still show the DVIIF up for release in late march ;D
-
The hobby show finishes today in Japan so I can imagine that something will be posted on the Wingnuts website tomorrow, but it will only be listed as ''in development''. It could be a year before we actually see this kit released or it might be one of Wingnuts surprise releases around Christmas.

I have only been around for one surprise release -- the Hannover -- were the others publicized before their "surprise release"?

Yep, There where others first they launched, if I remember correct it was a three day release.

Hello Bo:
IIRC the NINAK was a surprise release right before Christmas in 2010, albeit it was known it was going to be released. I think the PFALZ DXII was also a surprise release, but not sure when; I'm thinking during the middle of 2011, July or August something like that. WNW sure kept the lid on the Hannover dropping a real bombshell on the WWI A/C Modeling community.

Still only the one photo, or has anyone found anything more?

Wow an AEG G.IV now that's interesting! This new bomber should be a real beauty. As an added bonus there's several interesting conversion possibilities. Not to mention a good home for a scratchbuilt Becker 20 mm.
Who knows if this is to be a trend we may see a Friedrichshafen G.III, Caproni Ca.3 or even a GASP... HP 0/400 "Bloody Paralyser"

Was wondering if there was going to be another multi-engine type in the Wingnut lists anytime soon. The AEG looks very appealing, with lots of variations possible, including civilian ones. Dunno about a Friedrichshafen; sometime maybe, but it's rather similar to what they already have. We need an Allied machine. Totally agree about the Caproni Ca.3. For me, that and the Felixstowe are the two most colourful and charismatic types, and beg to be done. There's an actual Caproni they can go and look at somewhere, isn't there? The HP 0/400 might be just too big, even for WNW(?) But what about a Vimy? Especially now they seem amenable to doing immediate post-war types. That one's got a lot of interesting history... [/fanciful daydreaming]

Hey.. is there a non-Facebook link for this? I'm at work and the firewall won't let me see it >:(
-
Try this:
http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=207535&page=1
Steven Lawson copied the picture to Aeroscale's website rather than link to the original (which is a bit off IMHO, especially as he does not acknowledge HobbyLink Japan). It does mean however that it may get through your firewall

Tuck this away for future reference: the last remaining example is about two hours from my front door. I've got a fair number of photos of the a/c, and can get more as and when I can get to the museum:

I won't be building one, but I'll be happy to help builders of this kit where I can. 8)

Now I'll never get that Hi-Tech one built. looks like another in my stash to be moved on to somewhere new. Look forward to the shots you can grab in the future TP. Thanks

If memory serves me correctly it's at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa. I'll be there several times around the 21 Sept as it's Conference/Hosting Center is the venue for my Step Son's Wedding Reception. If SWMBO allows me off the leash I'll certainly get a series of photos unless Trackpad has already filled the bill.
More to follow.
Cheers,
Lance
-
Lance,
If you get the chance, get more photos. I have fifty-six, but we can always use more detail shots. I might be at the museum on August 9th, so I'll try to get additional photos then. 8)

Looks to be a pretty cool kit, and not so mainstream. OK, so here is the list now: P-61, He-219, AEG, Vosper...
-
Not 1/32nd scale but a Felixstowe F.2a early and late version plus a Handley Page 0-100/0-400 bomber, both in 1/48th scale, will be coming out in the near future. Not by Wingnut. These will have 24 to 25 inch wingspans.

Any hints as to who ?? Resin or injected molded?

To Blues Fan,
You asked about an actual Caproni in existence. There is one at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Go to their website and take the virtual tour on-line. You will see it, along with a lot of other nice WWI aircraft. Enjoy!
-
Thanks johnvandermeulen, I did not know about that one, will go and have a look :)
Roughly similar size to the Gotha, isn't it? Maybe slightly bigger? Anyway, it'd be great if WNW were to consider kitting it up
Cheers

All the aircraft you mentioned earlier Mark have possibilities, the Caproni Ca.3, the HP 0/400, the Vimy and the Felixstowe, these would all make wonderful kits but whether there would be a market for them is the big question. The main issue with these large aeroplanes is the size of the completed model, they are huge and take up a lot of space. The Gotha is a classic example of this, many modelers have said they would love to buy the kit but would never build it because of its size, I have one in my stash and it will probably never get built. The planned release of the Wingnuts AEG will be a welcome addition, not an overly huge aeroplane but still large enough to make an impact, I will certainly be building one when they are finally released, I'm hoping for a pre christmas release.

No news from the Kiwi workshop in quite a while....they must be planning something big.....?
Like you Des, looking forward to the AEG release, -wonder what colour schemes they will opt for?
-
Yes Des, I understand and sadly agree. I'd sensed that there must be a lot of unbuilt Gothas around. I would add the dust and cleaning issue. A major part of my return to the hobby, is my willingness now to spend money on putting everything in a case. I couldn't stand going to all the effort of rigging in 1/32 especially and then seeing it slowly spoil.
But I love the Felixstowes, fantastic machines. I promise you WNW, put one out and I will buy AND build it.
Mark
-
I agree that a Felixstowe would be large BUT, I would buy one as well. I would find the space for it somehow. ;)
-
Well, I admit, that having built two Felixstowes in 72nd scale I fell in love with the type. WNW Felixstowe would be a temptation hard to resist. But 29.15m/32 gives 91.1 cm span and my cabinet might hold 75cm at the most. For a moment there is no way I might display one at home. Probably I would build a box and store it under my bed ;D
-
Yah, that would be pretty massive at almost a 3' wingspan, but man it would be nice!
