Hello Wayne;
I have the following model: RFC Camel "Le Rhone" Hobbycraft 1/32, new tooling - ref. HC1693. It's unstarted, complet with some pieces off sprue. The stencils decals and rondels its ok, but there no wood decals. If you are still looking for this model, please contact me, confirming on this group, by the following email: [email protected]

Hi Wayne,
I am sure that I have an unstarted new tooling 1/32 Hobbycraft Sopwith Camel, and I have always wanted a WNW kit, particularly the Pfalz D.XII, if you've still got it. I would have thought that a WNW kit would be far more valuable than the Hobbycraft kit. Correct me if I'm wrong but my experience with the Hobbycraft kit is that the larger pieces can be warped and that it has other issues.
I've just been into my cupboard and I've found my Hobby Craft Sopwith Camel. I called Des and had a chat with him about it, and he says that the kit I have is probably the older tooling version. I have HC1681, so it's probably not the one you are looking for. The large components are not warped, and I have a feeling I was thinking about the new tooling version of the Fokker triplane, not the Camel.
Still, if you are still interested in a trade I could go out and find and buy a kit for you! I am located in Australia, are you in the USA?
Regards,
David.

David,
You're right about the relative values. The "new tool" Camels are ONLY HC1693 RFC Camel "Le Rhone" and HC1694 Camel "Clerget" Aces. Any other Hobbycraft (and Academy copy) Camel is a scaled-down version of the old 1/28 Revell Camel, and (IMHO) not worth the time to build it. Until WnW produces a Camel, HC1693 and HC1694 are the only real choices.
You can find reviews/build articles of the two, and one comparison of "old" and "new" HC Camels by googling "Hobbycraft HC1693 Camel" or "Hobbycraft HC1694 Camel"

Ismael, :-[ Sorry, but I must withdraw my trade offer. I just discovered I already have HC1693 in my stash. I really wanted HC1694 (Clerget engine) to use with my 1/32 Spada Jan Olieslagers decals.
Apologies for any inconvenience,
Rob

Thank very much for letting me know Rob. I thought it sounds like an uneven trade, but I thought I had the kit he is after, and have certainly always wanted to have a WNW kit or 10! ;D Every time I think I have the money it gets spent on something else. It's very frustrating! On the plus side, when I had a look at the kit the parts are all nicely formed, not warped and twisted as I had thought. I must be thinking of the new tooling Hobbycraft Fokker triplane. The wings, and probably other parts were quite warped, but I was able to straighten them, and there is no hint of deformation now that the triplane has been largely assembled. I will wait to hear from Wayne, as I am sure a few of us are! :D
Regards,
David.
