Hi folks
This is the first posting on this forum and for the moment I´m working on a Vignette including WnW Albatros DVa.
My goal is to complete the Wnw (old) Albatros DVa in the Walter Böning´s scheme for some years now but guessing that all Albies from Roden have given me some tiredness off this bird so it had its time on the shelf halfway build.
Then Kellerking realized the mechanic with the Hienecke parachute and an idea for a vignette turned up in my head. So here´s the progress so far and for the moment my brushes are on the Mechanic, when he´s done my attention to complete the DVa and there will be two more figures from Model cellar to go on this vignette.

Surprisingly the decals vent on fine without any troubles, even if the decals are top notch I always some stupid things in the process to "f-word" them up.
I did some gentle postshading on the bird and will give it a little bit more when all bits are in place.
LarsaQ

Very nice work. The shading is very subtle and works perfectly.

Really lovely, Larsa. So close to being finished.

Gorgeous Albatros, Larsa! I really like the shading on the wings.
Is that the post shading you mentioned? One other question...did
you use diluted black paint, or something else? Thanks for sharing
your work.

Ernie

Lars,
Excellent Albatros my old friend. Those decals are outstanding and beautifully applied. Keep up the outstanding work.

Hi Ernie
No the postshading is yet to come. From the start in painting the wings to what you see here are this.
First a coat off primer Humbrol 64 all over.
All ribs and internal are masked with thin strips of masking tapes. A mix off Hu 33 black and 62 leather was used as preshading all mask.
There after the camouflage was airbrushed Green/moauve, mixed with clear varnish so the preshades still be visible.
Clear varnish was used over the areas where there the decals should go.
Last was the valleys carefully shaded with Tamyia´s smoke, and here we are now In this pics.
So from here I´ll use a semi gloss varnish to cover up any gluemarks, so I´ll mix in some tiny black/brown into the varnish just to give the model a softer look.
I just hope this will get you an idea what I did or........

Hi Folks
All figures are now painted up and ready to be installed on the vignette. They are painted in Humbrols and oils(still don´t like the acrylics).

Stunning work, Larsa! Congratulations on the completion of another magnificent project.

Excellent work and a great presentation. My only thought is you might want to dull down the gloss - just a bit - on the blue and white section of the fuselage. I know there was probably a sheen to the real machine but just to fit in with the rest of the display it might want to be a bit more matte.

Excellent work as usual. Another masterpiece from You, Larsa.

Hi Steve
You have good eyes my friend, the Albatross is still to have some wires drawn and there´s still some decals to go on.When that is sorted out I will give the whole albie an coat of semi gloss varnish tinted with some dirt just get rid off that glare you see.

Very beautiful display. I like your grass, the figures, dog and of course the Albatros. Looks like it is going to be a winner.

Hi Ivo
Then you missed the bird on the left side on the top wing ;D
Thanks anyway

Looking forward to your figure painting tutorial. Speaking of painting things, has anyone ever tried to hand paint the outside of these aircraft like we paint the cockpits? For example, using a base coat and then applying a French camoflage scheme using various oil colors. Any thoughts? ???

Hi Rick
I just painted the wood grains on this Albie with an brush, yes there´s decals for it I know but paint by hand is more satisfying.
The painting tutorial will com up soon after midsummer.

Very, VERY nice, Larsa, as is all of your work. The figures really add a lot to the display, I'll be following your progress on the Mai figure, I might have to give these a try in future!
