Title: Re: 1:32nd scale RAF FE.2b
Post by: Mike Norris (UK) on March 10, 2026, 07:48:55 PM
Hi all,
As my build of the Jeannin Stahltaube is nearly complete, I've started preparing for the next model.
The Wingnut Wings RAF FE.2b, Serial No:A385 of No.100 Squadron, RFC operating from St. Inglevert, France during 1918 and flown by 2Lt L.G Taylor and 2Lt L.E LeFevre.

Great choice Mike (Love an FEE)  8)

Just reading the Datafile on this one yesterday and was interested to see the description for the Secret Operations order No34 scheme which left the upper surface of the top wing brown (PC10?) with standard red, white & blue roundels and all other surfaces in black with the lower wing having a white circle instead of the roundel which I thought was unusual. Presumably A852 being with 100 squadron would have worn this scheme . . .

Should make a great model and I'm tempted to try a slightly smaller one myself   :)

You like a challenge Mike! This will be a lovely subject to see you work your magic on.

Surprise. It looks like we are going to build the same kit in the same version in the same time.  :o

Hi Nigel,
No contest  :)
I've only just started preparing the cockpit parts.
Also PrzemoL is somewhat of an FE.2b expert having already built two.
I'll be very much following his build,

Mike

I just finished re-reading the chapter about the FE 2B in William Adair's book.

This is one of my favourite aircraft, so I'll be following this build with more than general interest!

Hi all,
I've put this build on hold for two reasons.
Firstly, PrzemoL is building this aircraft and I'm following his build.
Secondly, I've ordered the 1:32nd scale LFG Roland D.II 3D printed model from MDesign Scale Model Studios.
It's an aircraft not produced in 1:32nd scale and although a limited run should prove an interesting or challenging build.
I also have the book Bulgarian Hunters by Mitko Mitkov as a reference.
Once the kit has arrived I'll start the build,

Mike
