Title: Revell Lucky Pierre !!!.... FINI !!!...
Post by: Allan31 on February 10, 2026, 01:02:11 AM
I'm sure many of you have these passive searches as I do. Something we want but not enough to put any real effort or dollars into.
Over the past couple of years, I've been patiently waiting and looking for certain kits I would love to have. It is how my Hippo Gotha G.V came to me. Every once in while poking around the www.
I also found a new, still factory sealed Blue Max Vickers Gunbus. None of these did I pay stupid money for.

In the stash I have these Revell kits, only the Spitfire and the Messaschnitzel are built.

Passive searching over the years finally found "Lucky Pierre". Very rare. I paid the princely sum of $14.50 for him. I got some bonus dinosaur parts in there as well.

As you can see, for that price it's not new in box. In fact I can safely say it is the roughest used kit I have ever found.  I can imagine a little kid and his dad sitting at the kitchen table with hairy sticks and blobs of glue and paint having a blast. It will be a challenge to clean up and rebuild.

Pretty nasty....However, sitting in a bath of Easy-Off oven cleaner for a couple of days did wonders.

Piece by piece I went through and got rid of the tons of old tube glue and paint then reassembled the bits.

I was chuffed with how well a coat of primer hid a multitude of sins.

I'm sure I can finish up with the priming today and then I can start painting.

I was amazed at how well everything cleaned up. A coat of Tamiya fine grey really improved the the looks of everything.

The parts that were once chrome I just did with my own recipe of the silver in the little testers bottle thinned 50/50 over gloss black.

Pierre was fun to paint.

I grabed a can of Tamiya gloss aluminum for the Nieuport, I found some Hobby Craft decals in a 1/32 scale kit and used those.

A nice break. I 'm not sure if this will get rigged or not.

Lovin' that Allan and great to see you bring it back from the brink (I'd taken one look and . . . . ) Just goes to show if you're determined enough and have some patience. Can't wait to see the finished article

Only things missing were cabane struts, (easy fix) and the tail wheel. This allowed me to create a more accurate Nieuport skid. I mixed up colors to match the decals and painted the rudder.

This was huge fun, I'm glad I was able to find this for cheap and it cleaned up better than I thought it would.

I still have not found half the landing gear, must have ricocheted off someplace, walk carefully.
Now I get to do it all over again....

Update, all fixed and flying  !!

Damn it Allan!  Now you?ve gone and made me actually consider paying the extortion rate for one of these kits.
Really nice work on resurrection kit. Twice resurrected actually!
