I started the Amodel kit for the ace Alvaro Leonardi yesterday. I want to make it unique and accurate, possibly building one of the other Fortunello decorated planes from 80a squadriglia. The best photos I've seen so far (and there are only two) are on the vintageaviator site where they have their replica of this same plane. I don't have the Osprey Italian aces or Nieuport Aces books, nor do I have any Windsock material. I'm willing to buy but don't want to waste my money if they don't have wartime photo references. I wonder if anyone out there knows a good place to look for material for this subject or has any of these or other books to recommend.
Thanks.

Hello,
you can find not many more images about the "fortunello" nieuport than those on the vintage aviator site http://thevintageaviator.co.nz/projects/nieuport-11-bebe
May be ther are a couple more, I will check and let you know.

There are a lot of historic photographs on this italian site of many types of aircraft.
Of particular interest to me is the over the wing Gun mount on the Macchi built Neiuports. It is very different than the tripods I see on existing models and build logs. Also different than the reproduction of the Leondardi aircraft by Vintage Aviator.
It is the same style, when examined closely, though as the two 80 squadriglia aircraft they have photos of.
