Finally completed the Pegasus Albatros DIII (Oef) 253 series. Finished as as one of Franz Peter's aircraft from Flik 3J in 1918 - he finished with 6 victories. After the war he served in the Polish airforce. Used the excellent Blue Rider Sworl decals and markings. Scratch built the struts to replace the white metal versions that are too short. The Pegasus kit is a nice kit that goes together well (like every Pegasus kit I've made). The Blue Rider decals went on very easily - and I have to admit I really like the pattern, although picking out the details after I'd applied the decals was difficult as they completely disappear unless strongly side lit! Rigged with stretched sprue (as I usually do).

A few more photos...

Lovely, especially fine shading on the undersides. I only somehow do not like the sworls visible through the white part of yin-yang emblem.

I agree, really great job Will.

Your Pegasus DII OEF is really lovely - especially as Pegasus kits are pretty crude .........

Very nicely done. Pegasus kits are a pretty good starting point, but they do need a lot of work to make them special!

I agree with you Przemol, I realised too late that the white sections were too see through. Not convinced I can successfully paint over it now without it looking worse!

Very nice! You did a really good job with the sworl decals, it can't have been easy getting them on the fuselage so neatly. Great job on a challenging Pegasus kit.

Nicely done on a difficult kit. I like the sworl pattern.

You did a commendable job with that clunky Pegasus kit! Very nice work with decals as well.
-
Excellent job with the old kit and decals Will, it's a beautiful Albatros!

Looks really good... as others have noted, Pegasus kits take a bit of extra effort and you've done a great job on this one. The sworl pattern make for a very interesting finish and as the entire model is predominantly decals they turned out looking great!
Take care
