Greetings. Time for my intro.
I was born in '64 in sunny California. Built my first model in '69. I've built off and on through the years, but have been pretty consistent since around 2010.
My first WWI model kit was a 1/28 Revell biplane. If I remember correctly it was an Eddie Rickenbacker plane. Built that one around '74/'75 and didn't even paint it. I was "molded in color" after all! Just assembled it and applied the decals. Voila! My first WWI aircraft.
Fast forward and the next biplane kit I got was the Tamiya 1/48 Fairey Swordfish. Not WWI but a biplane with rigging.
When Wingnut Wings came on the scene, I was intrigued since I've always had an interest in WWI aviation, but held off getting any of their kits since I figured they would be around for awhile. Oops.
Thinking I would never build one, I was pleasantly surprised when the warehouse (or whatever it was) was discovered and I got my chance! I got a Sopwith Gnome and Sopwith Camel USAS. The Gnome suffered a catastrophic failure, but I still have the Camel and it will be on the bench very soon.
Before I tackled the Gnome, I did build an Academy 1/32 Sopwith Camel. Absolutely loved it!
So, with all of that said, keep an eye peeled for a photo of the Academy kit in its finished form, and the eventual posting of the WNW Camel.
I'm sure I will have questions and hope to be able to add some experiences (and maybe help/advice?) of my own.
I am a seriously novice Biplane yob, but I don't really forsee any trouble.
