Title: Pfalz D.XVf wing question
Post by: herbarnold99 on July 10, 2025, 03:01:36 AM
Hello all,

The Pfalz D.XVf apparently had a revised, "rounded" set of upper wingtips. I've only seen this one photo that shows this particular aspect from the side (attached). Does anyone have any kind of 3-view or different photo that may show how it looks from above? Did this wing have a shorter span than the standard D.XV? So many questions, I'm hoping there's a Pfalz expert in the house...

cheers
Herb

Hi Herb

Looking at the Jack Herris book 'Germany's Fighter Competitions' it seems that Pfalz entered two versions of the DXV in the third competition and the picture is of the one that lacked the horn balance on the ailerons (like the DXII top wing). No other details given in the book and sadly no plans or different photo's.  :-\

Sorry not much help . . .
