Another rare WWI subject. Aeromarine 39B was a primary trainer built for the US Navy in 1917, a total of 150 of these aircraft were produced that trained the first generations of US naval aviators. The 39B had the distinction of being the first aircraft to land and take off from an aircraft carrier with a real flight deck, the USS Langley in 1922. The arrestor cable systems and hooks used to this day were developed and tested on this aircraft.
