Today I was looking at my ESCI Sanitation wagon which looks like it's closer to 1:32 scale than 1:35 scale. This wagon would look great in a diorama. Anyone else have an opinion on ESCI wagon kits?

A good starting point, and should be easy to modify a bit. Historex made a lot of 1/32 stuff also.

Thanks for the tip Mike in California!

Master box & Mini Art do some 1/35th carts which could fit the bill just right too both horse & hand carts. Some diorama accersories too that could come in useful.

Steve, sorry for the delay. The Historex stuff seems to be found at model swap meets in boxes of "odd stuff" under sellers tables.
They did make a lot of stuff that prolly can be adapted for us WWI types. As Keith pointed out, Mini-Art and masterbox are getting headed in the WW I direction as well. With the Centennial of WW I next year, we may see some more coming.

Mike, thanks for the heads up for the historex stuff. A week ago I was hunting for airplanes at Sprue Brothers and found a german nurse figure from Zoukei-Mura in 1/32. Apparently, they released several figure sets for their Ta-152H-1 kit. Next month I will p/u the Miniart and Masterbox wagons.

Des try Hannants, search for carts in 1/35th scale. If I get a bit of time I'll add a link
http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?product_category_id=&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=&code=&product_type_id=&scale_id=954&keyword_search=cart&setPerPage=25¤cy_id=
Hope that works. picks up lots of wrong stuff but both suppliers are about half way down first page.

Thanks Dave and Keith, found both links to work well.

G'day, Gents.
Historex Agents are one of the best retailers on the net, so you can use them with confidence. As DaveM showed, they have some very nice kits. Historex are 1/32 scale and a couple of the carts would easily fit into a WWI diorama. Others, such as the field forge, wuerst wagon and ambulances, may look a little out of place.
I've built the field forge and it looks impressive- here's a WIP shot- I can't remember whether the tools came with the forge or with were separate. I've got a few things to do, now I've learned a little about using oils to simulate woodgrain.

More use would be the tools, farmyard and inn sets. These include plates, jugs, stools, chairs, etc. All the things that would be "found and acquired" for use at the airfield.

Just remembered this site at Scale Link, they do a lot of railway related stuff, but they carry a range of WW1 vehiles and accessories in 32/35 and 76 scales cast in metal.

Dave.
(just been browsing their site, they even have a narrow guage railway system!)
They have quite a few figures too,and also look under Guage 1 stuff,I think that is approx 1/32nd.Lots of ) guage(1/43) that wouldn't look tooo out of place with 48th scale!

Des,
I found the Miniart and Masterbox wagons on; scalehobbyist.com their prices can't be beat. I found my Encore Albie D2 and Roden D3 for under $50 a piece!

Messieurs !
The ESCI / ITALERI German Military WW2 carts do fit well to WW 1 also, because they stem from pre-WW 1 times;
on photos I could not make out any difference between the open carts of WW1 & WW 2; maybe the medical cart
Shows some differences ? - but they are minor ones!
So, do not hesitate to use the carts !
Even the Minicraft Carts are usable, because carts do come in a lot of seizes; you do not notice "underseized" cart wheels
gauge 1/35, I think !
