This model has been residing in my stash of Wingnut Wings kits since the time the news about the company demise broke.
It actually never appealed to me very much due to few wings and almost no rigging. But then I decided to buy the kit just in case a will would awake in me to build it. And this Group Build has indeed been a proper trigger.
I plan to build the kit option B, The Baender, the one which is featured in the box art, but with a certain alternative, which will come later as a surprise ;)
For now, I opened the box, unsealed the sprues, let the fun begin!

I am looking forward to this Prz.
Alan.

Nice choice! I like the corrugated fuselage ;D
I will be following with great interest! The box art scheme is also the one I would go for with my kit ;)
-
I have this kit and am very much looking forward to the build and the surprise!
-
I agree Prze. I lack interest in these ?modern? WWI subjects. No doubt that you will spark some interest with your excellent skill though. Looking forward to watching your progress.
-
Looking forward to this one Przemo!

The work is begun. Interior parts cut from sprues and cleaned. And the Axial propeller is carved from lovely Kotebi veneers.

Still think it is an ugly aircraft design but I will be following your build as this come together :)

That propeller is beautiful! Bravo, Prze!! I'm excited to follow along with this one.
-
Wow that propeller is amazing!
-
Lovely looking prop! Excellent finish on it.
-
Your prop has gone from Outstanding to Drop Dead Gorgeous!
RAGIII

Your propeller turned out beautifully - as good as it gets. What a great start to your build, Prze.
Cheers,
Gary

The rest of us mortals start with the cockpit.
Looks great.
-
Thanks everyone!
The rest of us mortals start with the cockpit.
Why 2 propellers?
The work on the cockpit goes in parallel :) Photos will come when colouring ends and assembly begins.
Two propellers??? I do not understand your question, honestly. Up there are two photos of one carved propeller - both sides, which will replace the kit plastic element. ;)
-
I hit post before realizing same propeller, front/back.
-
The office is complete. Now to the engine...

Beautiful work on the metal finish Prze !
Alexis

Wow, that was quick! Lovely work, the cockpit looks great.

Quick work with No Loss of quality. SOP for you!

Wow looks great! Almost like a sports car for the weekend track ;D
-
Thanks.
Finally some progress to report. The body assembled, treating of seams at some spots is necessary and quite tricky given the surface detail. I am using the water based putty and white one shot primer - that is why the model is partly white.
Also work on engine is on, with the basic elements coloured and prepared for assembly.

It looks great assembled! Nice start on the engine. This one is coming together nicely as expected!

Looking very good. It's interesting to see how you approach building the engine, very helpful.
-
Ooooooo , the power plant ! :)
Alexis

Mercedes engine assembled. I plan to add the air pipes, fuel pipes and control linkages, but these after it sits on its bearers.
And some grime to subdue the glossy look.

The engine looks terrific so far Prze. Well done!
-
This will be another masterpiece from you, Prze! The metal finish of the fuselage and cockpit is exceptionally well done.
Kind regards
Joerg

That's come together really nicely, looking forward to some dirt..... :)
-
That looks amazing.
-
Thanks.
Some more progress - the seams of wing halves are almost ready, the ailerons are added and the guns assembled await colouring.

Wow. The level of detail in these WNW kits is insane! You are doing great work bringing it all to life.
-
Thanks, Tim.
Wow. The level of detail in these WNW kits is insane!
Hard to deny it. We will be surely missing WNW quality once they are gone for good from the aftermarket. I am lucky to have 12 kits still in my stash... But this number is steadily falling down.
-
I'm sitting in the audience. It looks great. I like the interior and the engine. :)
Lukasz

Some more progress. Engine got its share of dirt, internal sides of panels, oil tank and Spandaus painted, and the bulk got the first colour - underside pale blue for the wings and the tailplane.

Wow that camouflage came out very sharp and crisp! The purple color looks just right!
-
Excellent job on the camo, very nicely handled.
-
Pressing the decals into wing corrugations finished. Inevitably some black and white retouches will be necessary - after varnish..

Great work on a kinda ugly aircraft.
-
You managed to paint elegantly on these grooved surfaces. You did a great job, Przemek.
Lukasz
-
Great paint job. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to press the decals into the corrugated metal. Fantastic build all the way around.
Warren Q

Great progress and nice coloring. Besides of not Mining the Junkers D. I too much, I think it?s the surface that holds me back to build this Kit.
-
Thank you, gentlemen.
And here, finally is my surprise. ;)
The Baender will be red with black-and-white band.

Clearly you're determined to make this a good looking aircraft regardless of it's design.
