Title: Albatros D-XI cockpit color
Post by: Brian James Riedel on February 25, 2025, 05:23:43 AM
Howdy,

Any ideas on what the colors of the Albatros D-XI might be?  Would it be wood or perhaps grey-green?

Hi Brian - it'd be a guess, but I would say wood coloured with grey-green fittings, like many other Albatros types.

I suspect there's no definitive data here, so anything is possible :)

Cheers,

Stangely enough I'm thinking of finishing off my old Veeday kit in 1:72. What is the current view on colours? From pics and profiles I've found online it looks as though the first Prototype was varnished ply, and the second may have been green/purple for the fuselages, with lozenge wings for both, although the original instructions say upper surfaces dark green/lower light blue with lozenge ailerons. I suspect that is an outdated idea but what are the hive thoughts?
