Title: Nieuport Ni 11, Eduard, 1:48 – Italian Aces Part 2, Luigi Olivi
Post by: KrzysiekK on February 20, 2013, 10:22:30 PM
Luigi Olivi (six aerial victories) was born on November 18th, 1894 in Ancona.
He volunteered the air service in 1913.
In 1916 Luigi had his first rendezvous with Nieuport 11 and later in August he was drafted to 76 Squadrilla.
Severe and exhausting service provided the CO and transfer to Ni17, on which quickly won his fifth aerial victory in the company with Picco
On June 17th 1917 Luigi gained another strike. He followed his last victim until impact with the ground and then turned back on home airport to pick up the camera for validating the kill. Without any hesitation he jumped into SPAD VII, started up the engine and took off. After a while Luigi Olivi crashed and died immediately
The probable cause of death was lack of training for SPAD…...
Ni11 on No. 1651 served as a training aircraft even in 1918.

Speaking of my replica, I know, I know, there are no back side numbers, which I am afraid to do myself, maybe one day it will get the decals, .who knows?
Generally sth is wrong here, some detail, but was too late to amend

Oh I like that very nice. The Italian Nieuport schemes are very pleasing on the eye.

I wouldn't worry about making the decals it is really straightforward, there's a good tutorial over on Large Scale Planes that I followed when I did Baraccas markings for his N17, admittedly it was in 1/32

She's absolutely gorgeous, K!  Love the shading and weathering.  The scheme is so simple yet beautiful.  This is one I'm planning on doing, as well.  If I come across the serial numbers, I'll let you know.
Cheers,
Bud

  K,
Absolutely lovely little Italian kite my old friend. Outstanding paint work too overall. I'm very impressed with your weathering, especially the wings. Did you use the Italian shade of Light Tan for the wings? Whatever shade you used it looks perfect. Congratulations and Well Done my friend your skill and craftsmanship shine brightly in the Nieuport 11.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

Thank you All for approval :)

coyotemagic: if you still remember my lack of numbers during your build, would be grateful

GAJouette: I did the wings same as with Albatros i.e made the mixture of 5 colours on Humbol/Revell basis. For ribs used AIZU tape. That was it.

regards

K

I simply love it mate, but you know that already ;) Two thumbs up dude!
I`m going to try to print some decals on my home printer so if they`re any good I`ll print the missing numbers for you too. I`ll let you know.

Very, very fine Nieuport, Krzysiek! The shading is very nice, colour scheme and the pilot story add a lot to the flavour. The third photo from the bottom is also interesting, suggesting a kind of "parasol" aircraft. Thanks for sharing!
