Does anyone know why I have a question mark appear whenever an apostrophe should be in my posts? I?m not understanding this.
-
No, but I have this problem too. I thought it's only me...
-
Are you by any chance composing posts in MS Word and pasting into the input field? MS Word by default converts single quote marks into apostrophe glyphs, which will get munged when your post is encoded and saved in the forum database. ?\_(ツ)_/?

Thanks. That may explain part of it because the way I post is first to post on Hyperscale website then copy and paste here. But it also occurs when I select a word from my autocomplete menu.

I get the same thing when I paste any letter with a diaresis or accent from my character map. It makes it difficult to properly type a lot of German, French, and Belgian surnames.

I'm posting here directly and I'm having this problem.

I have the same problems. It does not matter what punctuation mark I want to write, most of them appear as question marks. I even turned to use <<that>> for quotation marks.

Every time I log on to this Forum, I first have to be verified that I'm Human????

I think it's some sort of coding issue. I noticed this happened recently on all my past news posts. All the old umlauts, accents and other punctuations that used to work are now replaced with gibberish.
-
Oh blimey... That's prompted me to go back and look at old posts, and I see the same thing.
Any instance of foreign diacritics, basically, the letters concerned replaced by a meaningless glyph.
I would welcome this being fixed!
If I refer to non-English names and places, I want to get it right.

It happens to me too, using iphone, even if I?m using an English keyboard.

Possibly there is a patch for SMF, though it was last updated about two years ago. The "current" version is 2.1.4 -- this forum is on 2.0.13...
