Title: Caproni Ca.100 (1/72, Fly)
Post by: PrzemoL on January 12, 2025, 06:27:19 AM
Got a bit tired of BE2c. So I jumped aside to this little guy. A bit crude on some spots, but generally fine.

Great work, Prez -

Are the replacement radial cylinders 3D printed parts?

Regards

Dave

Thank you for your kind words.

Dave

Yes, the are harvested from the Wright Skoda engine of Lukgraph PWS.26. In the view of lack of a decent replacement their cylinder heads and valve pushrods will have to play the role of those of Fiat A.50...

Some progress of the weekend bench time:

Lovely work. I really like the subtle postshading - what did you use for that?

My usual way. Masking of ribs with Aizu 0.4mm strips and a mist of Clear/Black mix - a very thin one 10:1 approx.

I wasn't aware the Ca.100 was powered by anything other than an inline engine, which is what I was familiar with. You've done beautiful work so far Prze!

After the magical holidays in NZ including the visit to Hood Aerodrome on the flying weekend time has come to return home and also to the bench. I am not sure if it was the fight against 12 hour jet lag but the final stage of this build was a nightmare, the simplest bits required repetitions and corrections. I even managed to shake off the upper wing after it was attached and first rigging lines were tightened. But finally I reached the end, and after all I am quite happy with the final result. So here it is Caproni Ca.100 from Aeroclub di Bergamo as seen in 1946.

It truly was a trip of our lives. I am not sure if you realize that you live in a paradise country (at least from the point of view of a visitor). We fell in love in NZ once more, after 5 years. :)
