This is build started a few years ago, parts of it may be on another thread, but I have opened the box again, worked out where I got up to and hopefully have the right colour scheme... Good to be doing some WW1 modelling again! (Even if it's a boring Triplane)

The seat belts got a little wash, the fit of the cockpit got adjusted, the propellor boss still needs a wash, and that strip of white card under the turtle deck is an excellent idea! The engine looks OK, I think...
Hopefully I'll get more done soon...

Marc

Triplanes are anything but boring! This looks like a really nice start.......

Colour me excited! A terrific start, Marc.

Thank You Nigel and Zac for joining in! This is not a fast build, but more a get-the-mojo-back build, a relatively easy kit but full of opportunities, a few tweaks of my own, and well, it's the colour scheme, isn't it? I have decals for 8 options with maybe more if I mix and match, so I will be doing some background research! I must say it has gone together well so far, there is some care to be taken, the usual WnW warning about a coat of paint will affect fit and two coats create a gap applies, so a little scraping of the fuselage inner surfaces help, as you can see in the photo above... Today I got the fuselage halves together, a major step for me! The upper joint is just so good, it will only need smear of surface primer at most... no clamps were used..

I could immediately start dry fitting the components that directly fir to the fuselage, and they fit so well, with minor trimming needed...

Another view...

Well, that was enjoyable progress today, enjoy your modelling!

Good to see you back on this one. It's a lovely kit and it seems to be going together well for you. Any idea which scheme you will be doing?
-
Marc, I am so happy to see you at the bench again, and posting here!!! Fingers crossed for this project. Looking great so far!

Thank you Nigel and Przemo for checking in on this build, hopefully I can do it justice. This kit does actually go together beautifully, just follow the instructions, beware of the little details your build needs, and enjoy! Here I have added the lower wings and struts, click, click and it's there!

And just a smear of surface primer, not even putty and this is where we are... I have been debating the colour scheme in my mind, there are just so many great ones to choose from, maybe I must post a few options....
Regards,
Marc

Looking good, don't keep us in suspense over the colour scheme...... ;)

Blimey that one didn't take too long to rattle along - great stuff ;D
Looking forward to seeing what scheme you choose

Thank You Paul and Nigel for checking in! There has been a little progress, in spite of festive season here! This photo shows progress on the struts, I may just keep those centre section ones separate before assembly to paint, but this may change... depending on the scheme... But dry fitting shows the assembly will be OK...
And then the choice of schemes available... There are options, and you can help me decide, just post! I am drawn to the Herman G scheme (Known as Fatman too..) .. and well, lots of options...
(https://i.ibb.co/VqDwPy4/IMG-5282.jpg)... 2 from the kit decals, nice too..
Also from the kit... I have done 425 before, but not in this exact scheme...
(https://i.ibb.co/9rPzvvR/IMG-5279.jpg)... 503 in a great classic scheme... love the lightening!
(https://i.ibb.co/Q9LQ1CD/IMG-5278.jpg)... and here is the whole Roden decal sheet left overs... I can spray it black and do LO if I mess up the paint job... I don't have a spare Clerget engine though...
The 125 scheme from the WNW Albatross boxing is so tempting, meant for the Roden kit, I may just wait to do this one...
And this scheme would be easy to do but not seen often...

Well, if you want to vote on it, I'm OK with that!
And all the best to you and your loved ones over this festive season!

202/17 or 193/17. I've never seem the latter done, so that would be an interesting scheme.....

Well, the build progresses, the kit itself continues to please me! Note the struts under the tailplane are reversed in the instructions, but just get the aerofoil section right and the fit is obvious (and good). I also attached the ailerons, they have very, very thin and delicate trailing edges but clean up so well with just a little care. The ailerons are displaced in the correct directions as the control column is over to the side in the cockpit. I cannot remember if I did this deliberately when building the cockpit, probably some poor modelling! I am approaching the painting stage, just in time for the shelf queen GB, so I can let the various colours dry properly while I pay attention to the Albatross. I am indeed tempted by 193, Nigel, but would have to make some assumptions: does the dark blue go under the fuselage as well? I take it the upper wing crosses have a dark green overpainted background? The lower wing crosses on CDL background? But quite doable, I would make the green cowling and blue tail quite bright shades... just me!

Enjoy your modelling! Regards, Marc

Good choice, it will look very unique. I have never seen this scheme on a model triplane.
Your progress looks very good!
-
Terrific progress! I am sure whatever scheme you decide on will be great! Just remember to be carefull with the cabane struts. They do break easily as I found out!

Thank You Andreas and Rick for checking in! I will be making some assumptions on the colour scheme, it will look more striking with white backgrounds to the crosses on the top wing! I will be careful with those centre section struts, Rick! So on to slopping some paint on, background to the crosses basically so I can mask them off... went on OK...
For me a painted background works better, easier to match colours or adjust as necessary... this will need to dry for a few days...
Regards, Enjoy your modelling! Marc.

Nice progress here, it's coming together very well.

If there's no photographic evidence to the contrary, IMO you can make whatever assumptions seem logical regarding the scheme.....
