Bloomin' heck! That will be mahoosive. A favourite of mine, for a moment my wallet trembled but I just don't have the space to assemble or store the thing.....

That is quite an ambitious release.

You could always build an extension  ;D
(Mind you we'd have to have and extra table at shows to display the bloomin' thing) ;)

Don?t we live in the golden times of modeling? I am really looking forward to this one, but I am also looking forward to Lukgraph?s Hansa-Brandenburg C. I, Rumpler C. I, Morane Saulnier L, ?.

Sandy, my "day job" is landscape painting, and among painters the standing joke is "the biggest picture always gets the prize..." :D

This is an amazing release. We are truly living in the Golden Age of WWI modeling.

That is great news. I am planning one to be bought and built.

I can see the competition tables will be full of Capronis next year!
S

That would be lovely, but I am afraid not. In fact not so many of these kits are actually being built.

When Lukgraph was taking a poll of kits people wanted to see them do, I put in this one (along with the Zeppelin  Staaken), with no hope of it being done. My stash at this point is of biblical proportions, but I will be compelled to buy this  one! And the Staaken ;) :D :o

Collaboration or coincidence?
KatModel have had the same subject suggested on their home page for some time. It cannot be economic for several manufacturers to produce a model of this size, so perhaps it?s a case of first to market wins the day?

Hi all,
Update from Lukgraph.

Mike

There are no previews of the Ca.3 yet, as soon as I have the chance I will definitely show them.
I can only add that for the first time in the history of LukGraph, figures will be added to the model.
It will be the entire crew of the Caproni Ca.3, 2 gunners and 2 pilots.

Yep, so would I, I guess that would be an acceptable compromise, my workbench is not apt to host such a building...

I DO have the Choroszy Modelbud 1/72 kit, but it is quite daunting.

It's just a bag of resin bits and -to be diplomatic- a very basic instruction sheet.

Definitely an impressive and weird machinery. The Italian theme is also much more appealing to me than the German Gotha/AEG bombers. Guess what the consumer price will be?

Anyway, right now I don't want to build a new room for my property for the sake of a 1/32 Caproni. Another problem might be the width of the front door. Obviously the unassembled kit will fit through the door, but what if I assemble it and want to bring to a competition? ;D
I wonder if it will be available in a smaller scale?

The 'Lukgraph' FB page said they may consider 1:48th scale and the previous render shots shows 1:32, 1:48,

From what I heard at the source, 32nd version will be released first. 48th is planned for mid 2025.

And it will not be cheap...

Hi all,
I asked what the sizes will be,

Mike

"Wingspan for 1:32 approx 710 mm and for 1:48 approx 476 mm.
The wings will be reinforced with triple wire (2 x 1.6 mm and 1 x 2 mm for 1:32 scale and 2 x 1 mm, 1 x 1,2 mm for 1:48).
Additionally, there will be trestles under the wings on 2 sides.
All struts and undercarriage with wires."

Crew figures for the Caproni Ca.3

Bomber crew - will be standard equipment of the kitset.
Position for pre-flight photo.
Test print almost successful - there will still be small corrections."

Like the WNW F2a and Gothas, (which I had but then sold,) a Caproni would be just too large a model to be of any interest to me.

It probably does make sense for a short run manufacturer like Lukgraph who will likely sell enough to cover costs, but it will need to be fairly expensive to do so.
Anyway, best of luck to those who buy one, and I do hope to see one built up on the competition table.

Although the 1/48 is beyond tempting I have to discipline myself. I am trying not to buy more aircraft kits and instead build stuff I already have to get the stash down. I will however really enjoy seeing some of you guys building this in either scale.

Hi Nigel,
Well I still have the WNW Gotha, Felixstowe and AEG in my stash.
The Caproni Ca3 is probably bigger and bound to be more expensive.
Storing the finished model, let alone travelling to shows with it will be problematic as well.
But, never say never  ;)

I hope I am wrong, but based on the new 1/24 kits, I think 499 will be understated. You are right about this being the centerpiece of any collection, and I commend Lukgraph (loyal customer for a while).

Having recently recieved their Brandenburg C1, the quality is fantastic. NO print lines on my copy. Am building the Lohner seaplane atm and the fit and finish of the parts is spot on. Hi all,
Latest from Lukgraph,

Mike

In addition to printing this giant, you also need to find time to make assembly instructions - that's also a lot of work.
In this model, we focus on durability.
The wings are triple reinforced with 2 mm steel wires (the wires will be included in the set).
All the struts and the landing gear are the same - everywhere reinforced with 0.8 mm steel wire.
Just in case, we will include 2 trestles for the skids on the lower wings in the set.

My copy arrived yesterday. You may not have had time to examine all the parts in your kit yet, but unfortunately mine had some damage to the edge of the cockpit nacelle. As the packaging is extremely robust, I can only think that something unlucky happened during packing.

I have mailed Lukasz and asked if he can supply a replacement. It is a little time consuming with a model of this size, but it would be good advice to unpack and check all the parts.

Good to know. I haven?t checked all the parts yet as daily business is keeping me busy. But the nacelle is one of the few parts I already have inspected and it is fine. That doesn?t mean, of course, that there can?t be other damages somewhere else. So I?ll be back on it as soon as possible?

I found two pictures of a torpedo and its rack under a Ca.3 in my references, but I'm not sure that's what you are looking for.

Will post this weekend.

There is another book: "Gli Aeroplani Caproni - Studi, progetti, realizzazioni dal 1908 al 1935" by Gianni Caproni (the big man himself), but it is costly and I have no idea if there are pictures of the bombracks in there.
