My build of the Academy 1/72nd scale P-51D OOB. Markings are from an Ancient Superscale/Microscale decal sheet. I used MRP White and Dark Aluminum, as well as Tamiya Flat Aluminum. Weathering with Oils and Tamiya Powders.

Very nice indeed, if a bit tiny....... ;)

Congrats on a terrific wee 'Stang, Rick.
Hats off to you for switching between scales - I don't think I could manage a 1/72 kit these days, let alone one as good as this.

Excellent work Rick, looks great!

Thanks Guys. I am enjoying doing some US aircraft from the European air war! Finding that although Academy May not equal Arma and Eduard, they build up nicely!

A truly nice pony, Rick. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Przemo! Between the Hurricane, a household plumbing issue, and an unexpected weekend stay in the Hospital, I am just catching up on things!

Adding some more 8th AF/ War over Europe builds. First another Academy P-51D. The markings are also from the old Superscale Decal sheet.

Thanks. I will most likely do at least one more P-38 as I am a fan also!

Very nice work indeed. But it's all time that could be spent building WWI subjects...... ;) ;D
-
Very nicely done Rick - those really turned out well. I had to chuckle at Nigel's comment about "time spent better on WW1 models" as I try to balance varied interests with motivation to start some of the models in the stash (or buy something new!).
Cheers,
Gary

Nice work! I appreciate the subtle weathering you've achieved.

Thanks Nigel! As for Ww1 subjects I can buy about 8 of these cheap Academy and Hasegawa WW2 kits for every single 1/32nd WW1 kit. Sad but true. Once the CSM Nieuport 11 arrives I will be back in the proper portion of this forum 8)

Thanks Gary! I have become very fond of these little kits 8) A nice distraction for sure!

Thanks Dave. I have another Mustang in the works. I think I am addicted :o

Some very fine models there Rick - and the finish on all of them is first class. I am still getting the hang of the fact that they are in God's Own Scale - they look much larger.
Stephen.

Thanks Stephen! I have finished yet another Mustang. This one is Tamiya plus a tail conversion by Pavla for the early version with No fin fillet.. Thanks to WD for gifting the kit and conversion.
