I can get the Roden or BlueMax.
Which one is better?...

Hello Allan,
I would recommend the Roden kit. The wing trailing edges are sharper.
Happy modeling,

I have not had the Blue Max Junkers but have built the Roden one. My vote would go for the Roden one because Blue Max kits generally need a bit more work than Roden kits. The Roden Junkers D.1 went together lovely and had very nice detail. I have only one criticism of it, the crosses that go on the wings don't want to sit inside the corrugations. I got them in after soaking them in decal solution but if I had to make another one I would just paint them on.

I must admit after completing the Wingnut D.I, I'm tempted to give the 48th Roden a go. Perhaps do an all over silver finish.
Yes, I think I will!
Cheers,
Bob

I built the Roden D.I just after it was first released. Sadly the build is now long gone, but I remember it being a breeze.

Watch the joints around the fuselage pieces in order to make sure everything fits cleanly. The cockpit is nice out of the box but benefits from the addition of seat belts. With the guns being so prominent, it's also worth adding some etched jackets and sights. Indeed those Roden decals are troublesome; lots of decal setting solution needed.
Otherwise, it's quite a lovely kit to build.

I built the Blue Max kit way back when it first came out and was the only game in town. It made into a nice little model but I remember having trouble with the wing trailing edges. Because Chris Gannon liked his soft buttery plastic, it was difficult to get a sharp edge with the corrugations looking right. Took ages. I'd imagine the Roden would be easier to work with, although the BM transfers (decals) were excellent at snuggling down on said corrugated surfaces.
