Title: Wingnut Wings 1/32 RE.8 "Harry Tate"
Post by: dirk on February 10, 2013, 03:52:11 AM
Dear friends,

here is my "Harry Tate", B5106 "1A" Daimler built in 59 Sqn markings. The progress on the four month lasting work can be followed on the "Group built" (http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=942.0). I really like the appearance of the plane, a somewhat ancient "steam mashine" with wide spreading wings and tons of cables and rigging. The whole thing looks so fragile and like an antithesis to a streamlined design it is hard to believe that this was a brave and reliabel fighter... So in my opinion, that's what it's all about by building WW1 mashines :D.

With greetings from Germany,

Dirk

Outstanding, and I second the "work of art" assesment. Supurb detail, incredibly realistic finish and shading/weathering, and a great job on a complicated rigging layout make this a real winner in my eyes. My compliments on a truly great Model Dirk, you are a real master!
Cheers,
Lance

Dirk,

I must say it is difficult to believe that this is not the real thing. Apart from the apparant fact that you have build an impeccable model, you have given it a absolutely perfect weathered look that it stands out as the real thing. You should manipulate your pictures into a real background and then show it to others.

Perfect, excellent achievement!

Hi Ivo,

thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, my abilities in dealing with photoshop are less than rudimentary.

Gorgeous!  Great to see it finished.  I wish I could replicate the worn & weathered look that some seem to manage with ease. :'(

She's absolutely stunning, Dirk.  The colors, weathering, rigging, scarf ring...all brilliantly executed.  Come on.  Don't lie.  You've done this before, haven't you?

Those who think that single colour paint schemes are boring need only look at your model to see how far off base they are. I've always felt that making a single colour scheme interesting is one of the hardest aspects of this modelling hobby. I don't think I've ever seen a better example than your Harry Tate Dirk. It's a real piece of art.

Cheers,

Chris
