Title: 1/72 KP Breguet 14B2
Post by: Rip Van Winkle on November 30, 2023, 09:12:59 AM
Straight out of the box KP Breguet 14B.  This appears to be a copy of the AZ kit of a few years back,  Tamiya XF71 for the green and Mister kit French clear doped linen for the underside.

I set the cabanes struts first because they give you the correct backward stagger.  A jig may come in useful but overall not a bad kit. The A2 would have been a little easier to start with. The landing gear was a bit tricky.

The rigging was a nightmare. I used .004 stainless steel ans .008 wire. I noticed there were no cooling vents on the bottom of the engine area. Apparently this aircraft was built using several engines.

To my knowledge no drawings exist and I understand the datafile does not have one.  I used the Warpaint series drawings from aviation news to help me. I did not like the colors of the Roundels so I used an old set of Blue Rider decals.

That's turned out really well, and you did a great job on a kit that doesn't seem the easiest to put together......

First class model. This is not a type with which I am familiar - but I really like what I see.

I really like it, and you see so few of these, either the AZ or KP, done.

Some of the KP models are difficult. I am finishing a KP Albatros C.III and it was a nightmare.  Hope to finish it this month.

Excellent build!  The Breguet 14 is one of my favorite WWI subjects. You have done an amazing job with this one. I looked through the Datafile special and you are correct. There are no scale plan drawings. They do provide some very detailed closeups of various engine configurations.  A few of which had louvres on the underside.

I’m interested in learning about how your Albatros C-III build is going.  I plan on building this kit sometime soon. May even build the  Meikraft kit along side it.

Cheers,
Tim

I've always loved the Breguet, and this is a beautiful model of it.

Well done!
