This is the 1/72 Czech Master resin kit. I don’t remember how i acquired it but it is without boxing or instructions. ( I have several CMR kits like this)
The detail is really fine with thin trailing edges. I won’t cut away the ailerons for fear of damaging them.
Here’s an artist rendering of the aircraft:

The kit:

After some cleanup, I decided to make the struts out of brass strip. I used the kit resin ones as a template

I added some interior details to liven it up a little. The brass struts are just placed there to check fit.

I’ll come back to this once I finish my Deperdussin build.
Thanks for looking in!

Talk about obscure, both the aeroplane and the kit! Looking forward to seeing what you can make out of this one, Tim.

I had that kit. It came from the original Aviation Usk in the 1980's. Back in the days when Tom had us send him a self addressed stamped post card with the kit name and number on it. Even the plastic packaging looks the same before CMR starting using boxes. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

Love it Tim. :)
Good call about the ailerons - I suspect you'd end up using a bit of choice language

This will be an interesting subject. Will watch with pleasure

Lovely subject and a good starting point, although a lot of work required. And I think you will be up to it! A great start.....

Good day all. Thank you for the encouraging words on my Deperdussin build.
I had a productive weekend and enjoyed some quality bench time with this AW FK-10.
The interior was painted up and a little extra detail added. I didn’t add a lot because despite being a two seater, not much is visible through the small openings.

I have no interior photos so everything is pure conjecture.
Next, I closed the fuselage and added the two center wing support beams. The section inside the fuselage is stained a wood color.

The Clerget engine was added and the cowling is just tacked on for the photo.
The air intake pipes are Contrail strut material. I ground out the ends with a Dremmel bit.
I’ll need to fill some fuselage seams again but overall looking ready for paint

Next week I’ll start working on the wings.
Thanks for looking in!

a little extra detail added
For a 1/48 build I completed recently, this level of detail was me "going all out"...and still I think there was room for improvement. You're far too modest Tim!
-
You sure that flat blobby thing was actually part of the kit, Tim? I only ask 'cause it kind of looks like some old chewing gum I peeled off the bottom of my shoe the other day... :)
Marvelous job so far... can't wait to see it completed!

Love it Tim, this is shaping up very nicely!

Love it so far Tim. :D
Going to be a head turner when it's finished

A friend on another forum likened it to a pile of cat vomit 🤮! It is an odd way of casting the parts but they are very detailed and clean up very nicely.
Thanks,
Tim

Great work on that crude material. Fingers crossed!

Wow, looking good already! I really wanted to see this one built......
-
Interesting project. I had no idea it was a 2 seater and I have a vac kit of it in the stash!

Excellent work so far Tim! I will follow with interest.

Ok. My experience with resin models has been pretty good so far. One area I’m always afraid of is warming warped parts to reshape them. Most of the wings in this kit were warped to some degree.

I boiled water on the stovetop then let it cool for about 10 min before submerging the wings. I left them in for 15 minutes and then removed them and placed on a flat countertop. They hardened back really well and much more straight than before.
Next I painted them all separately.
Now I had to decide how to approach attachment of all these flying surfaces.
I decided to start with the bottom wing. It would be a nice base to align the others if I get it attached properly. I have no scale reference plans to go by so I just eyeballed it.

Here’s the wing struts glued in place.

Next came the second wing. I put brass pins in the fuselage attachment point
This wing needed to be trimmed a little at the wing root for proper fit.

Looks pretty straight

Third wing was a little problematic with the cabane attachment point.

I’ll wait until I finish rigging before adding the upper wing.
Thanks for looking in!

Just like building a staircase (Not that I've done much of that!)
Coming together nicely now Tim. Looking at the size I was struck by how small the elevator is (I'll bet the freeflight version in the magazine increased that a bit) ;)

Looking really good! Great job on getting a really nice build out of this old kit. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build.
-
Lovely work Tim, looks pretty true from here.
-
Tim, you always pick the coolest kits! I picked this one up 20 years ago and have never touched it. Looking forward to you bringing yours alive.
-
Don't like the prototype but do like your model!

Great work, Tim.
This is a rare one. I've long been aware of the beast but had never realised it was a two-seater until now!

I finished this one over the weekend. Overall this is a nicely cast and detailed resin kit. It does require some patience and cleanup. The spindly landing gear is challenging. This was one concern with the original aircraft as well. The Vickers gun is a mix of Aeroclub and Part photo etch. The Lewis gun is Aeroclub with an unusual PE blade sight. Decals are Americal Gryphon. Paint is custom mixed acrylics. Rigged with fine black EZ line. Hope you like it.

More photos in the Completed Models section.

Certainly do Tim ;D

It is really jaw dropping to see what you did with this failed pancake Tim.
Hats off!
