Great job, Carlos. What paint did you use for the PC12. I love it.
Cheers,

Very nice work, Carlos ;)
Tamiya paint for PC12? Looks great.

It was actually Vallejo Flat Brown, not Tamiya(apologies). Used Allclad Semi-Matte lacquer for the overcoat.

Very nice job! 8)

Very nice clean build! Makes me think more seriously about getting one of this kits, in some near future.

Very nice job Carlos, the colour is excellent and the semi matte finish is perfect, well done.

Great looking Tripehound Carlos!
Are there any pitfalls along the way I should be mindful of? Mine is in the pile, just waiting to go.

very nice tripe, like the finish and overall appearance. i really like the subtle scratches on the prop. a lot of guys forget this when they weather and leave a pristine prop. it is a very nice kit compared to the roden which i have as well. they really caught alot of details and the typical wnw rigging points really look like they will help. this is one thing with the roden that was a miss. they could at least mark the rigging points especially the one in the middle of the center wing that passes thru. you have to just about rig the thing to find the spot you need to drill. cheers on your lovely model.

Excellent work, Carlos. That's really looking nice, mate.

Carlos,
Outstanding she looks just as a Tripe should my friend. I'm impressed with your PC12 shade, just right to my eyes.

Carlos, nice job. A very clean style like what I strive to do.
We should do a forum data base for Vallejo.
i.e pc-10 = brown violet
I've been brush painting vallejo's in an effort to stay away from enamels.

Carlos,
I recently tried my new Alclad paints and was lamenting that they rub off or wear very easily, didn't realise that they have a clear overspray in their line until I noted here that your final finish was their semi gloss clear which I havn't seen at the two shops I visit. Question; did you spray directly over the decals or use another finishing coat first? I'm a little nervous about damaging decals with a lacquer overspray. I'd like to order some clear finishes but would appreciate your opinion of their suitability first.
Cheers,
Lance

I actually took my son to the Aerospace museum here in Calgary yesterday and saw a Sopwith triplane!
I was apparently timed as to how long I gawked at the thing. Apparently it can fly but it is too rare to risk.
I also saw a Le Rhone engine on a stand.
I wanna go back.

It's a direct overspray. I kept the pressure low and used thin coats. The Cartograf decals that WNW provide have had no issues with lacquers. All of the WNW kits I've done have been finished in this manner.

I caution on Alclad flat finish, in so far as unlike future, it absorbs fingerprints for days! My tripe is still tacky if its held long enough. I now use misted future as Matt.
It's fine on decals though. Future is a perfect cover over alclad Lance. Nice tough, shiny and buffable.
-
Thanks Carlos and DrDave, sounds like the Future (which I use) might work however for a Matt or Semi Gloss finish? Do you mean 'misted" as in just a very light coat, Dave?
Cheers,
Lance

Exactly
