Modelers Lounge => How's it going? => Topic started by: RAGIII on September 28, 2023, 07:31:07 AM

I have been trying to keep this information more or less under the radar. I think it's time to get this in the open. I have already shared this with the Admin and some other close Friends.
Last year My wife was diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma in her Lungs. It was caught Very early and all were hopeful. As an aside, she had one bad habit which was smoking. Otherwise she always had a great diet.and really practiced healthy habits.
Last year when I was somewhat absent from the forum, she was undergoing her first series of chemo and radiation.
After that she was cancer free for only four months before she showed more tumors growing in her Lungs.
In the last few months she has been going through further chemo treatments.
The impact on me has been devastating to say the least. I have found that the worst thing is my Anger is Skin deep and can explode without much provocation
A small setback in a model build suddenly becomes a fit of anger. Last week I was attempting to attach the upper wing on the Roden Sopwith Strutter. I had difficulty and smashed it on the floor.
I have therefore gone back to WW2 1/72 nd models that are a bit less stressful.
This is also why I have been remiss in comments on the terrific builds going on now.

Life can throw some bastard cruelties at you, Rick.
As you get older unfortunately they come thick and fast.
All the very best hopes and wishes for your wife and you.
Hang in there buddy.

I too would like you and your wife to know that you are both in my thoughts. Your reaction and thin skin is wholly understandable and not to be apologetic about.
When you feel ready to comment do so, but do not be in a hurry as we are all here for you and your wife.
Stephen.

Keep fighting the good fight Rick. To have emotions is to be human, you're both going through one of the toughest things we have to face. Thoughts and prayers with you, my friend.

Rick,
My thoughts and hopes are with you both, take courage and continue the good fight. You have a wealth of support and sincere concern here and reach out if you need to. Life can be a real challenge at times but I know you and Linda will give this the best you have, and from what I've seen over the years that's a lot!
Take care and stay in touch when you feel the need.

I'm so sorry to hear about the situation. I hope further treatment, as rough as they are, brings good results. You are allowed to escape every now and then but enjoy your hobby the way you, and only you, need to. Subject matter doesn't matter. Love your BoB builds and Wildcat so keep posting when you feel like it.

Rick,
You and I are old friends, and we go back years with quite a few miles on the frame. We've discussed some of this before, and I am so sorry that both of you are having to go through this. Please know that I keep you both in my prayers, and if there's anything I can do to help, whether it's sending you more styrene, or you just want to talk, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Hello, Rick -
I nearly missed this mate - apologies.
Life can be a real sod sometimes and I am truly sorry to read this about your wife.
I'll simply say best wishes for a speedy recovery for your wife and look forward to seeing you back here in due course.
Best regards
Dave

I am hoping the best for you and your wife. I can only imagine how hard a time this must be for you.

I am very late in thanking you all for the well wishes and Prayers. I know some of you have followed my ww2 builds and I do appreciate that. We will find out on the 21st of December if Lynda needs another,3rd round , of chemo. I actually made a bit of progress on the CSM Bristol Scout. I dared to put about 4 lines though pre drilled holes. I haven't gone any further but it is a start!
