I have completed Roden's Sopwith Strutter. I have replaced the kit engine with a Vector Clerget 9 and made numerous scratchbuilt parts to enhance the kit. I have chosen to depict a USAS plane of the 90th Aero Squadron flown by Lt. H. R. Ellis and Lt. P. B. Schuss flown out of the Ourches aerodrome in France in July 1918. The research work was done by George Grasse, to whom I am grateful for his effort. The plane still had French markings as it came from a French squadron.

Overall this was a nice build. Roden has improved their wing attachment points, but otherwise this is a typical Roden kit - a nice base to work from if you like to add your own touches.

Gorgeous effort, Ken, I love everything about it, and it was tremendous fun following along as the build progressed. I was just looking around on the web for one of these kits, inspired by your/Sandy's/Rick's builds... I definitely need to have one of these in the stash.

What a super model. I have long thought that this important type has been under-represented in the kit market, now you have shown us how to build a super replica of the type. The extra details give the model that special look and feel.
