Title: 1/72 MAC Roland D.VIb
Post by: ScottJ on September 12, 2023, 02:07:35 PM
What the… another Roland!?
MAC 1/72 Roland D.VIb.  This aircraft is modeled as 6125/18 which through not very well researched data on my part is supposedly the first D.VIb that Roland sprayed a camo pattern on the fuselage?  The datafile (#37) doesn’t really have a lot of information on the examples with painted fuselages, I speculated that the colors would be the same as the Halberstadt Cl.IV that Roland was building under license.  My dilemma was if the colors were in reverse on opposing sides of the fuselage as on the Halberstadt.  I rolled the dice and ended up painting them uniform on both sides… some time later I saw the plans for the WNW Roland D.VIb and it looks like I out guessed myself (admitting here that I probably took the easy route with the camo pattern).  I have another D.VIb in the stash so hope to add a correctly painted example one day.
Landing legs replaced with wire and wheels were replaced with spares from Roden.  Guns are from the kit (breech) and Fotocut PE for the cooling jacket and sight.  Capacities and aircraft identification should be in light blue text, not black.

Being new to the site I’ve kind of bombarded this topic with pics of my older builds.  I’ll give everyone a break and take a breather for a while
Thanks for taking a look…
Take care
Scott

Thanks for the detail info.  I'm delighted to hear that Fotocut PE is still being used.  I have a fair amount of it in the parts stash.

Super Roland. It looks as though it is in a much larger scale than God's Own.

Really been enjoying seeing your collection, they're gems one and all. And no overload on my end, if you've got more, let's see them!

I second Dutch's comment, beautifully made models are never too many, especially in the right scale  :D

Nice little model of this beautiful plane! You did some super detail on the cylinder heads, didn't you?

Thanks again to all for your kind comments on the D.VIb... even with the inaccurate camo scheme that I applied.  Guess it's a case of learning from your mistakes.
And Thank you Joe for noticing the engine.  I'd completely forgotten but yes, I made a modification there.  The Benz engine was linked at the push-rod/valve train per cylinder.  I cut and inserted a tiny piece of stretched sprue to represent the link.

Take care
Scott
