Title: 1/48 Airfix Hawker Hurricane Mk1
Post by: DaveB on July 07, 2023, 05:52:09 AM
Dear all,

Built for a change of pace (I like the look of the Hawker Hurricane especially the Mark 1 variant) and built straight from the box.

Very detailed kit for the scale although demanding to put together in certain areas.

Markings for Sgt. Tadeusz Andruszkow, No. 303 (Polish) squadron, RAF Northolt, late September 1940.

Awesome Hurricane Dave! The colors look perfect and I love the subtle weathering! The original 1/48th Airfix Hurri was good. This one looks to be an Excellent kit!

I really like the results here.  Like Rick alluded to, the subtle weathering is a perfect look.

I agree, lovely work Dave! I have a couple of Hurris in my future and this is great inspiration.

Wonderfully done Dave! I built this one earlier this year and can concur there are some tricky areas, in particular around the forward wing roots and nose underside. Yours certainly looks the part!

Cheers,

Just found this Dave. I too am a fan of the Hurricane, (it was the first kit that I built), and you have really captured the worn look of the type. The wear is subtle and not overdone - excellent.

Gorgeous job, Dave, the topside is beautifully done, but I really love that underside. That really was a brute of an aircraft, and thanks for the history lesson... now I have to read about the original Kościuszko Squadron and its next-gen 303 incarnation...

Missed this. Great work! She has a nice aggressive sit. I've heard the wing to fuselage fit is tricky but it looks like you got it perfectly. Paint is perfect too.
