I wanted to share a few photos of my build on Meng's kit of the 1/32 scale Fokker Dr.1 Triplane, finished with Aviattic decals, HWG seatbelts and posed with a couple of Model Cellar's figures done in acrylics. The Meng kit was excellent, and I certainly would build another one.
My very brief build log is here https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=13422.0
I thought it was quite uncanny that both myself and brother Tony (Snowbird3a) finished a very similar project within a day of each other after neither of us had built a Fokker triplane in years. It wasn't like we planned it. Both of us have very diverse interests in the hobby, with Tony building mostly Canadian jets, and me with WW1 AFV's. But we've always both had a keen interest in WW1 aviation, and specifically Manfred von Richthofen.
Cheers,
Gary

Lovely work Gary, she looks terrific!
And who's a good boy? Moritz. Moritz is a good boy.

Brilliant work on your Dr1, Gary
Your figure painting are also impressive
Did Fokker streaking decals fit well?

Well that is a stunner, you even managed to paint the figures' eyes so they don't look like the living dead! :)
Seriously though, that is a really beautiful model.

Marvellous work as always, Gary.
The Tripe is superb, but the figures are just stunning.

The decals from Aviattic fit extremely well, Dave. It was my first using Richard’s streaked camouflage pattern, and I was very impressed with them. I’m happy to have had a bit of experience with the Aviattic decals before, since application and handling can be tricky.

Beautiful DR1 Gary! The streaked decals really came out well and the small bit of extra prep painting you did makes them unique. All of your photos are excellent but the very first one from the front with MvR, LvR, and Moritz is Awesome. I wish I still had a source to age the photo because I don't think one could tell this isn't the real deal if I could!

What a stunner. The figures are masterpieces in themselves, but the streaking and general finish of the model takes that into a category of its own. Outstanding model in every way.

It is a gorgeous model, Gary. I wish you gave up AVF modelling for WW1 aviation completely ;D

What a gem !! First class modelling and figure painting, congrats Gary! (And don‘t stop WWI AFV‘s… 😉)

Gary,
As Steve has remarked you've done it again, beautiful work! I'll hope to see this magnificent model in person in Edmonton this June?

Truly beautiful!

Nice work Gary. Figures really zing up the display.
I have the Meng and Roden in the stash, Aviattic for the Roden as 152, I don't remember what my cunning plan was for the Meng.
I'm awaiting a figure for my 1/28 tripe.

WOW Gary,
That is BEAUTIFUL. ...and again, my favorite paint scheme for the Dr.I. And an awesome/Amazing job on the figures really brings it all to life.

Here’s hoping that’s the case, Lance. Marianne and I have been able to dodge the Covid thing so far by limiting our outings, so I’m counting on being at the show in Edmonton this coming spring. Should have a lot to bring since our last meeting in 2019!
Cheers,
Gary
