I had intended taking some new SLR pics of this model but I've just had an op on my left eye, so might be a wee while before I get round to that. In the meantime I'll put up some camera phone pics.
If anyone is interested in the build log it is here - https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=13387.0
Reports that Josef Jacobs, while recovering in hospital in 1916, had asked his Jasta12 ground crew to paint his Fokker D.II dark blue to try to approach hostiles unseen, set my mind racing. An Osprey profile shows one interpretation, but I decided to make my own showing the aircraft cleaned and freshly painted awaiting his return. Not too often you get a bright blue subject and I decided that JJ was a fairly fastidious sort of chap - installing Camel engines in his later Dr.I -and he'd have wanted it in tip-top condition. Hence clean machine-turned aluminium cowl etc.
Special Hobby 1/32 Fokker D.II - good kit with the usual sprinkling of swear-inducing moments, but all worth it in the end, I thnk.

Lovely little Fokker Sandy, and the blue finish is indeed a unique one. Nicely done! (and best wishes for a speedy recovery from the eye operation)

Beautiful job Sandy, I love the subtle differences in tone in the blue and that turned metal effect on the cowling, wow!!!!

Excellent work Sandy - lovely little model indeed.

The swirls on the cowling alone make this a stand out model. The blue is very good.
Here's hoping for a rapid and complete recovery of your eye.

Thank you, everybody - and for the eye good wishes. I had surgery last Monday and it is healing now. Good to see in stereo again, even if a bit blurry!

Glad to hear you've had your eye op, Sandy
Your Fok DII looks good (as does the whole model) in blue and makes a colourful change. I also agree with others regarding the turned metal effect on the metal panels which is very realistic

Thanks Dave. Usual problem now trying to decide what to start next. I keep opening boxes and closing them again!

I know the feeling of trying to pick a next project. I suffer from the "paradox of choice" Glad the eye situation is improving and look forward to whatever it is you choose to build.
