Completed this one over the weekend and added a new base.
Model is converted from Eduard's DR1 with a propeller carved from laminated plywood

Lovely job, DaddyO, she's a beauty!

Oh, that is nice. Especially the propeller ;)

Cheers matey - looks a bit of a plain Jane next to the usual Dr1's, but I'm pretty happy with how she turned out ;D

Thanks Prze :)
(Getting better at the props now) ;)

That is lovely! I should show you one of my prototypes I tried to vacform. Doesn't look as nice as yours...
Nice one!

Oh that is lovely. Great prop.
Now you need an F.I and a Dr.I to complete the series.
It's tiny! (Maybe a Floh would make a great companion.)

Cheers Dan appreciate it ;D (Never tried vacforming although I've done a few 'crash moulded canopies in the past - not as easy as it looks to get the heat, plastic and timing right)

Thanks Sandy
It looks so small next to the standard Dr1 which I built earlier. The floh would be a great one to sit alongside; I've been keeping an eye out for one of the Elf kits which pop up occasionally because I really fancy one. Started a Nieuport Tripe which I put aside to finish a coupe of other models . . . . maybe resurrect that?

Oh well done - that really looks good!
A different subject matter too

Now that’s just too cool! I’m going to have to save this for a future build. Really nice!

(All I need now is the stretched 5 wing version to go with it!) 8)

Hi Paul,
The 5 winged V.8 was a crazy idea (though not the only one in this period...) that resulted in one of the ugliest aircraft ever.
You are probably aware of the existing resin kit of it by Anigrand. Although I'm always looking for the rare and different, I can't bring myself to actually buying one...
I would suggest the Siemens-Halske engined V.7 to go with your Triplane prototype.

;D Certainly true that it was a bit of a wacky idea and unsurprisingly was quickly shelved after test flying.
There are a few prototypes I wouldn't have even contemplated getting in the cockpit of and, like yourself, I'm not sure I could actually bring myself to build one (even if a nice kit is available) :-\ ;)
The Siemens =-Halske engined one looks similar, but different so maybe something I'll get around to at some point in the future since I've still got a couple of Dr1's on the shelf (It looks like it wouldn't have been much fun trying to land with that tall undercarriage, but the performance whilst in the air might have been worth it )
Cheers for now

Loverly little tripe !!! Is it me or is it smaller than a Dr1?
Someone mentioned a 5 wing Fokker, this one?..

Hi Alan. Glad you like it and love the Funfdekker kit definitely one for the Christmas list ;D
Yep this one is smaller than the Dr1. a later version had longer span wings and needed the wing ties found on the production versions. (The ends of the wings on this are roughly where the wing ties fit on the Dr1 to give you an idea how much smaller it is) I'll take a couple of side by side photos for comparison later
Cheers

Lovely! Your carved prop is fantastic but then the whole model is a little gem.

Thanks Ritchie - appreciate it ;D

Re-visited this, I really like it.
I suddenly find myself with 4 Dr1's so perhaps one of them will become the prototype but in my more comfortable 1/48 scale.

It certainly looks a bit different alongside the original. (I've also got a couple of other Dr1's, but like Albratos's it's difficult to decide which scheme to paint them in)

I agree completely! The fabric color, subtle formers showing on the fuselage, and all of the rest of the subtle weathering are top notch work!
