The first DH5 I ever built. Overall a pleasant build. I had a little problem with the tail assembly and the decals seemed a bit brittle.
-
Model depicts DH5 A9197 Australian Flying Corps 1917. Tamiya XF62 for PC10 and AK clear doped linen for paints. Rigging is with .004 stainless steel. Not an easy plane to rig. I did not add the gun sight or a wind driven air pump commonly seen attached the undercarriage. The air pump did not come with the kit.
-
The only additions were some cockpit detail and control horns. I had to fiddle with the undercarriage a bit but got it to fit. A new experience setting the top wing with a backward stagger.
-
I have the RFC version that I will build in the future. It doesn't take up a lot of shelf space either. I like that.

Excellent DH5! One of my favorite WWI aircraft.

Very nice build! I always liked the DH5. Not sure why. Maybe because it's an underdog, but I also like the looks. I'm currently building (slowly) the 1/48 Karaya DH5 kit. Seeing yours gives me inspiration to finish mine!

Nice one RVW. :)

Another one of your quality builds, RVW - great work
Although, what an odd looking aircraft the DH5 was with the back staggered upper wing ...........

Lovely work on a great little kit!
the decals seemed a bit brittle.
Thanks for the heads-up - mine's waiting for a gloss coat before decals. I think I'll give them a preparatory spray first.

Well done!
