Sopwith Camel
My first finished model of 2022 is the new tooled Sopwith Camel by Eduard in 1/48.
I used also a lot of accessories. Yes, it's a great kit! And I really the new kind of decals printed by Eduard.
The pilot was Walter George Raymond Hinchliffe, the commander of the C-Flight of the 10 Squadron of the RNAS.
A detailed build log can be found here:

If you liked my little Camel, then hit the keys! Criticism is also welcome, of course, as we want to improve.
Cheers,

Frank,
You've certainly started the year off right. Another beauty from your workbench.

My oh my Frank, what a magnificent model! The colors are brilliant and the finish beautifully done. Having followed your Build Log closely I am again in awe of your additions, detailing, and ability to produce such remarkable results in small scale.
Congratulations on a very fine bit of work!
Cheers,
Lance

I will only add that I am constantly Gobsmacked at your abilities to what Lance said!

What can I say... The colours, the rigging, all the details you have added, weathering on the underside... All this makes it the best Camel model I have ever seen.
-
Beautiful Camel. A real show-stopper!
Sandy
-
That’s another great one, Frank!
Andreas

You made another beauty, Frank. A sure reference for any further build of the new Eduard Camels.
Ciao

Looks Sharp, typical of all you works !

Everything that's been said and also - great photography!, both here and in the build log.
Well done!

Outstanding.

Frank...truly a spectacular model and to borrow the oft-used phrase "We're not worthy". I bow down to your simply outstanding model which brings out the very best in Eduard's new tool Camels.
I had to remind myself this is 1/48 scale, all the more reason to heap praise upon you because the level of fine detail is breathtaking.
Thanks so much for showing us this absolute jewel of a model.

Following this build was a delight, an inspiration and very aspirational. I've never been the world's biggest Camel fan but you've inspired me to get one, albeit the older tool. Thank you for sharing this build in such detail for those contemplating a build of this beautiful kit.
Congratulations. She is utterly stunning.
-
A superb finish, Frank! One cannot tell what scale it is, or even that it is a model. I like the outdoor pictures - a good setting for the photos.
-
This has been an inspiration. The outdoor pictures look like 1/4 scale rather than 1/48!

I am still not sure that you have not substituted a full scale replica in some of your photographs, especially the outdoor ones. I am also not entirely convinced that this is not much larger than 1/48 scale.
I am lost for words to describe what I really feel about hits one - brilliant will have to do.
Stephen.

Thank you very much for all the nice comments about this Camel! Highly appreciated!

Stephen, you can trust me - it is not the 1/28 kit!

You can't fool me, Frank: I've seen Weta Workshop's larger-than-life figure (https://www.tepapa.govt.nz/visit/exhibitions/gallipoli-scale-our-war) work before and I know their craft when I see it! ;D

Zac, thank you for pointing me to that museum! That is pure art, that inverted modeling :o

Spektakular Frank !

I only wish you could experience it in person: I was skeptical as we were queuing but once inside was moved to tears.

Hi Frank,
That's a highly detailed and well presented model of an RNAS colour scheme.
Great stuff :D

Brilliant work Frank! I love those outdoor photos, and know it takes a bit of extra effort to get them ;) It was sure worth it.

Thank you Gary!
This model is now shown in the new Eduard-Info journal for April, see page 118/119. But be warned, that is a HUGE PDF!
The high-resolution macro shots are merciless! I must mask more carefully ...

That is my second model in this monthly journal 8)
